Trayvon Martin Case Proves Bigotry, Beyond A Shadow Of A Doubt

I'm sorry but this really pisses me off... That poor girl (Nineteen-year-old Rachel Jeantel) didn't ask for any of this and now she is being mocked by the Right side of our country. One of the biggest reasons I could never adapt to a conservative ideology is the fact that so many of them seem to think it’s OK to be mean, hateful and cruel. They wickedly judge others without having a clue as to what it might be like to walk in their shoes. I've had it with the Right-wing; they are too infantile and too obnoxious to be taken seriously. They really should be pitied. If that sounds like a judgement, so be it.

Ayn Rand vs. Jesus Debate

Again, today on Facebook, an image that sparked an interesting (critical thinking) debate was posted. On face value (no pun intended) we all conjure up some kind of readymade thought when we think of these two human figures. Not too many of us hoi polloi get to escape the indoctrination we are bombarded with the minute we come out of the uterus and into existence. So whenever an automatic response pops out from within our brain cells, we should all STOP, and analyze it first before the POP goes verbal. thinkingblue
Both historical eccentrics have been recorded as having somewhat practical philosophies, although sometimes opposite of one another… Here is a vintage video of Ayn Rand’s appearance on Johnny Carson in 1967. Too bad there is not a video of the man called Jesus verbalizing his philosophy in real time. All his quotes have been manipulated by man, to the point that if he did exist, his own words have all been replaced with propaganda that is solely intended to control the masses.

David and Goliath Retold:

 David and Goliath - Retold:
The GOP Tea Party army had gathered for war against the women of the land. The two armies (Anti-Choice and Pro-Choice) faced each other, camped for battle on opposite sides of a steep gallery. A GOP Tea Party giant measuring over nine feet tall and wearing Senate Bill 5 upon his head came out each day for forty days, mocking and challenging the pro-choice women to fight. His name was Rick Perry and all the thinking women of the land were terrified of Rick Perry and his ilk.
One day, Wendy Davis was sent to the battle lines by the people to bring back news, about what the Texas Tea Party Governor was up to.  While there, Wendy heard Perry shouting his daily defiance and saw the great fear that stirred within Pro-Choice supporters, amid their cries for help, she realized if SB5 was signed into law by Perry, the measures would close almost every abortion clinic in Texas. There was much at stake here for the women of the land.
So Wendy Davis volunteered to fight Rick Perry. Dressed in her pink running shoes, carrying a small notebook, Wendy approached Rick. The giant cursed at her, hurling threats and insults.
As the Texas Governor moved in for the kill, (pen in hand to sign this horrendous anti-women bill into law) Senator Wendy reached into her bag of words and slung several at Perry's head. Finding a hole in his head where Senate Bill 5 had been worn, the words sank into the hole and he and his SB5 fell down on the ground.
But alas, contemptible Perry was able to get to his feet and dust the notorious anti-abortion, anti-women bill off and start the whole WAR ON WOMEN again. thinkingblue

Here Lies The Voting Rights Act of 1965

May She Rest In Peace!
June 25, 2013
http://www.newsday.com/news/nation/wendy-davis-filibusters-abortion-bill-vote-misses-deadline-1.5571336

Let us begin with 3 BIG CHEERS for Sen. Wendy Davis of Fort Worth... Without a doubt, I am now fully aware of, why I do not like most Republican lawmakers... (Why?) Because they are a wild bunch of bullies and brutes and want everyone to adhere to their (convoluted) way of thinking whether or not it 'WILL' hurt people and help erode our freedoms just a little bit more!

BTW, talk about bullies, John Roberts completes 30 year mission to kill Voting Rights Act and Two Hours After The Supreme Court Gutted The Voting Rights Act, Texas AG Suppresses Minority Voters…

When you have a (Supreme)court that has a majority (Republicans) rule, making decisions that will hurt We-The-People ensuring their clan (more like Klan as in KKK –‘Welcome to the Ku Klux Klan, Bringing a Message of Hope and Deliverance to WHITE CHRISTIAN America!’) will always win. And with these "R"wins our Republic WILL slowly morph into one of the following:

Totalitarianism - In a totalitarian society the government holds absolute control over all aspects of the lives of its people. A set of beliefs is imposed on the people, who have to conform or face unpleasant consequences.

Fascism - Fascism is usually headed by a dictator. It involves total government control of political, economic, cultural, religious and social activities.

Oligarchy - An oligarchy in which only a few wealthy people hold power. A republic may be an oligarchy if just a few people have the RIGHT TO VOTE.
OR
Plutocracy - rule by the wealthy. The decision by the U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday to strike down a key part of the Voting Rights Act has "pushed us back into a kind of plutocracy where the rich shall inherit the earth," former U.N. Ambassador and Congressman Andrew Young says.
And I am not, I repeat, I am NOT whistling Dixie. thinkingblue

Bring Back Paula Deen on Facebook

Bring Back Paula Deen on Facebook
Well it didn’t take long for those who believe that bigotry is not a malignancy of our times and that bigotry is a harmless product that we all indulge in from time to time. Here’s a facebook group (Bring Back Paula Deen) who believe Paula Deen should not receive any form of discipline for her insensitivity. The only way we can change the prejudice that flows like ‘whipped cream’ through our daily life is to make obvious that it will no longer be tolerated. thinkingblue

Paula Deen, Bigot of the Day!

Paula Deen is a very selfish woman but that’s not her real sin, many in business become hoggish and narrow. The fact that she’s affiliated with the Democratic Party and acts like a Tea Party Bigot is unforgiving!  thinkingblue

PS: Hey Paula, you may be a registered Democrat but yo ain’t no LIBERAL!
Come outta the closet girl!
Deen has faced extensive criticism for the high amounts of fat, salt, and sugar in her recipes. She faced particularly strong objections with the release of Lunch-Box Set, a cookbook aimed at children, with Barbara Walters saying of the book, "You tell kids to have cheesecake for breakfast. You tell them to have chocolate cake and meatloaf for lunch. And french fries. Doesn't it bother you that you're adding to this?" Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain commented in 2011 that he "would think twice before telling an already obese nation that it's OK to eat food that is killing us." On January 17, 2012, Deen announced that she had been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes three years before, a disease for which a high-calorie diet is a major contributing factor. It was also disclosed that Deen is a paid spokesperson for the Danish pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk, whose main export is insulin. She was called a hypocrite for continuing to promote her high-sugar diet while only disclosing her medical condition when it benefitted her in representing the drug company to market their diabetes management program. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paula_Deen

NO MAN IS AN ISLAND
I hope all will sign this petition. How many more mass shootings before the NRA will lose some of its power and our government will conclude that mandatory background checks must become a gun buying reality... 100? 1000? 5000? Or more? Every time a mentally impaired person sets out with his legally obtained semi automatic along with several high capacity clips lusting for 15 minutes of fame, remember this great poem written by John Donne.
'No Man is an Island'
No man is an island entire of itself; every man
is a piece of the continent, a part of the main;
if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe
is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as
well as any manner of thy friends or of thine
own were; any man's death diminishes me,
because I am involved in mankind.
And therefore never send to know for whom
the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

A Sociopath's Bellow

A Conspiracy Theorist would never dare to believe in Occam's razor, which is a principle of parsimony, economy, or succinctness used in logic and problem-solving. Which states that among competing hypotheses, the hypothesis with the fewest assumptions should be selected. To a Sociopath like Alex Jones, (Conspiracy Theorist on Steroids) hypothesis with few assumptions have no place in his convoluted and very complicated world of fantasy.
Today, again, I’ve come across an Alex Jones interview where old Alex did what he does best... Act like a bat-shit crazy LUNATIC. I cannot believe he has a following in the millions. What kind of a country have we become when crazies that use to be laughed at, while ranting on street corners, in an ordinary middle-class American neighborhood, now summon respect? The below video should be called a Sociopath’s Bellow but I've simply titled it: “Alex Jones, Never Met A Conspiracy Theory He Didn't Like."both fit, don't ya think? thinkingblue

Not My Amerca?

This has probably made the rounds before in Meme land but I saw it for the first time this morning and thought it worthy of another GO ROUND.

A neat thing happened to me on facebook today, I came across this short piece that speaks to the South and the GOP Tea Party. The old proverbial nail hit on the head, once again. thinkingblue
Secessionists

"This is not my nation any more.

This is not my America!" they say.

Don't laugh- they're probably right.

Because if you believe that America in the 21st century should function under the same assumptions and with the same values as America in the 18th century...

then no, this actually isn't your America any more.

If you believe that "Freedom of religion" means that you have the right to make decisions about health care, family planning, equal rights, evolution and education for people who do not share your religion...

you're in the wrong place.

If you believe that black people vote for a black man only because of race but white people never vote for a white guy because of his race...

if you believe that a 90 year old veteran who has been voting for 50 years should be denied a ballot because he no longer has a driver's license...

then it's not your America any more.

If you believe that bullying and abuse is ok as long as you do it for Jesus, and that kids are better off in orphanages than with gay parents and that rape shouldn't be an 'excuse' for an abortion because some girls rape easy...

this is not your America.

If you believe that the working poor, pensioners and veterans in America just want 'free stuff' but the wealthy demand their personal income tax cuts for the good of the nation...

no, this is not your America.

If you think you have the right to say who other people can love...

this isn't that place.

And if you believe that it's not possible for your candidate to lose an election unless the "urban" people cheated...by voting... that an acceptable way to win is to try to stop as many people as possible from voting, that "bipartisan' means that all the wrong people are supposed to do things your way and that the "United" part of "United States of America" only applies when your party is running the show...

then you don't understand what America is.

It's not a country where you can just 'opt out' when things don't go your way, and where a bunch of people whining that they want to leave will make us turn our backs on our principles.

It's not a place where beginning a sentence with "I'm not a racist' makes it ok to call the President a ni**er.

It's not a country where a rich, privileged old man can attack a young woman's character in vicious and almost pornographic simply because he disagrees with her politics and not suffer consequences.

It's not a place where we believe that a helping hand in the middle of a natural disaster should come with a pricetag..

It's not a nation where we think it's ok for poor people to die from treatable diseases because millionaire CEO's don't want to cut into their profits.

And thankfully, it's not a nation where bitter, obscenely wealthy men can buy themselves an election.

You folks are the same people who yell "America- love it or leave it" at us every time we try to fix what's broken around here.

Now, it seems like you don't love it enough to stick around and work together.

Well, we're not trying to run you out, but you are certainly free to go.

Of course you don't get to take your state with you- sorry, but that 'Constitution' thing you're always going on about says the states stay together.

And you don't get the flag you're always waving; that belongs to America.

But you can leave, if that's really what you want.

The border is that-a-way...

Tracy

Can You Keep A Secret?

The answer in a word NO!
I now firmly believe that SCOTUS has become irrelevant, their rulings seem to be either very politically motivated or just plain goofy. Take for instance what Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote for the majority vote: Kennedy described DNA testing as a logical and more effective successor to the longtime practice of fingerprinting criminal suspects.
“An individual’s identity is more than just his name or Social Security number, and the government’s interest in identification goes beyond ensuring that the proper name is typed on the indictment,” Kennedy wrote. “Identity has never been considered limited to the name on the arrestee’s birth certificate. In fact, a name is of little value compared to the real interest in identification at stake when an individual is brought into custody.” http://www.politico.com/story/2013/06/supreme-court-upholds-dna-testing-felony-arrests-92140.html
To me, what Kennedy and the rest of the Supremes who voted for this Police State ruling neglected to address is DNA does not only identify an individual it also identifies his or her whole being into existence and discloses family and ancestral genes prone to mental or physical syndromes.
Nearly every major mental illness has been identified with a gene(s). This would include anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. http://psychiatristscottsdale.com/genetic-mental-illnesses/ (Wouldn't Adolph Hitler have loved to have DNA testing as a tool.)
Brave New World has become somewhat of a reality and real soon this fictional tale will be a way of life and our Republic will be no more. Why isn’t there someone in power who can say ENOUGH ALREADY; let’s keep some things sacred and revered like the privacy of our genetic make-up (unless we volunteer it to be exposed or a warrant is issued to take it by force) for goodness sake... Not SCOTUS that’s for sure. If no one speaks up, Democracy and our Republic will someday just become a footnote in a history book. thethinkingblue

SCOTUS upholds DNA testing for serious arrests

The Supreme Court on Monday upheld the police practice of taking DNA samples from people who have been arrested but not convicted of a crime, ruling that it amounts to the 21st century version of fingerprinting.

The ruling was 5-4. Justice Antonin Scalia, a conservative, joined three of the court's more liberal members — Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan — in dissenting.

Scalia, who typically sides with the court's conservatives, expressed deep reservations about DNA swabbing at the oral argument. The purpose of the practice, he acknowledged, was "to catch the bad guys." But he added: "The Fourth Amendment sometimes stands in the way."

---

Well, as the story goes on to say, if it's just to catch the "bad guys", then I'm ok with that.

But is that likely? What will they do with the information if you are not charged or convicted? Keep it, like fingerprints?

What say you, ATS?

On the other hand, how many times have they picked up a "suspect" in a crime, release him/her only later on to find DNA linking them to the crime?
Meantime, they had committed more crimes.

Brave New World is a masterpiece of science fiction. Huxley has imaginatively employed scientific facts and theories to produce a classic of its kind. This novel is in the tradition of Jules Verne, the French novelist who wrote Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea and Journey to the Center of the Earth, and H. G. Wells, the English novelist who wrote War of the Worlds. Few writers of science fiction have equaled Huxley's ability to make the unbelievable seem believable and to make the improbable seem probable. His own interest in science, its use and misuse, its peril and its promise, contributed to the accuracy of his presentation and to the horror of his envisioned Utopia.

Huxley qualifies as a social commentator by reason of his diversified interest, his acquaintance with the great, the near-great, and the not-so-great. His comments are always perceptive, sometime biased, but never dull. He sees little chance of mankind saving itself; he sees mankind inexorably moving toward self-destruction. He sees himself as a voice crying in the wilderness - but crying to no avail, for the deaf refuse to hear.

The prophetic elements in Brave New World contribute much to its continuing popularity because year by year we see more and more of Huxley's fantasy becoming reality. Huxley himself later commented that we are moving in the direction of this Utopia much more rapidly than anyone could have imagined. At the time the novel was written only a comparatively few research scientists were concerned with conditioning, the importance of heredity and environment, and the effect of chemical imbalance on physical and mental development. Today, governments, educational institutions, and industries are exploiting the results of research in these areas. Read more: http://www.huxley.net/studyaid/

GOP To Poor Children, “GO HUNGRY!”

GOP Desires Poor Children To Go Hungry. Compassionate Conservatism? My Foot!

There Was a Time When Ending Hunger Was a National Goal for Republicans and Democrats
By DOROTHY SAMUELS
“That hunger and malnutrition should persist in a land such as ours is embarrassing and intolerable.” So declared Richard Nixon in May 1969 in his now widely forgotten “Special Message to the Congress Recommending a Program to End Hunger in America.” In that document, he summoned the country to a new level of generosity and concern and laid out a series of strong legislative steps and executive actions, including a significant expansion of the food-stamps program.
While campaigning for the White House in 1968, Mr. Nixon did not focus on the existence of a serious hunger problem. His conversion came as public calls to do something about hunger rose — driven, in part, by Senator Robert Kennedy’s highly publicized trip to Mississippi in 1967 where he encountered nearly starving children and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s focus on hunger as part of the Poor People’s Campaign.
During the ’70s, another Republican leader, Senator Bob Dole of Kansas, forged a partnership with George McGovern, the South Dakota Democrat defeated by Mr. Nixon in 1972. They helped pass legislation to improve the accessibility and antifraud provisions of the food-stamps program. For example, it eliminated a requirement that recipients buy food-stamp coupons, a prohibitive burden for the lowest-income Americans.
That kind of dedicated bipartisan commitment to ending hunger was light-years ago in American politics — before President Ronald Reagan and, later, Speaker Newt Gingrich made attacking food stamps a prime Republican obsession, and certainly before moderate Republicans, a disappearing breed, lived in fear of making any move that might provoke a primary challenge from a Tea Party-supported candidate.
