A card game that grantees to ruin your life, I should know I played it for over 30
years and psychologically suffered most of that time. We’re talking the credit card game here and PBS’s frontline has taken it on in this latest documentary about how we are pawns to those who operate and get rich in this industry.

Watching this Frontline narrative will give you an illustration of what our
government is doing (or fails to do) for us, especially the right-wing who should all hang their heads in shame. I wish the left-wing who is suppose to be consumer protectors (which they pretend to be) were there to protect us, but they have joined the right’s sycophants and willingly do the bidding of the
LOBBY FIRMS in order to receive the dirty money (more like blood money) these cut-throats will give them(to turn a blind eye) in the form of campaign contributions.

A shell game of sorts, where the suckers, in many instances, have no idea of what is going on and how it negatively affects their well-being.

It's a sad game that cannot be won by anyone who falls into a category called
LOW-INCOME. The banks and credit card companies’ makeup all the rules and they are always in their favor.

NO ONE, can get out of the traps they set, while they siphon off any earnings said suckers have given their blood, sweat and tears to acquire. It should be a crime because it is criminal but it is not.

Watch, learn and weep for those who get snared in THE DEADLIEST CARD GAME IN TOWN, where there is no place to turn for help. thinkingblue

Bishop Tobin, Self Appointed God

Please read: KENNEDY DISPUTE REVEALS DIVIDE AMONG CATHOLICS

Bishop Tobin continues to dip his fingers and toes into the holy waters of the state. Acting as though he was god, he continues to threaten politicians who do not buckle under the pressures of his religious dogma. Not having dominance over those who have not been indoctrinated in the Catholic ideology (which must really piss this guy off) he badgers those who he can badger. Threatening them, that only he and his church can guarantee their ticket into heaven and only if they do his bidding. What total and archaic nonsense. Tobin the Thug probably would be sentencing people to the guillotine if he had been born hundreds of years ago when (in the western hemisphere) church and state were one.

Now, I am sure there are intelligent clergy among those in the hierarchy of the Catholic church who believe and teach their flock that religion and state should be separated but apparently Bishop Tobin or should I say Holiest Highness Tobin is NOT ONE OF THEM. He's just another bully in my book.

Back To The Dark Ages, You Dog!

Hold on to your proverbial HATS, Enlightenment is over. According to one Catholic Bishop, it's over or never began.
How can a priest ban a parishioner, who helps pay his salary, from a spiritual right within his religion? If I were Patrick, I would turn to an enlightened source of organized spirituality or just use the brain he was born with before it was tarnished with incongruous notions thought up by a pack of authoritarian male homo-sapiens.
Religion is what is screwing up the world, in all its eerie, ghostly and spooky forms; it seems to rail against rational thought. This is how they rule. This is how they coerce wars and this is how they enslave the masses.
As one escapee from the clutches of irrational thought perpetuated by an organized religion, I can tell you it is far better to be acquainted with logic and reason in this, OH SO MANY QUESTIONS UNANSWERED universe of ours. The freedom to inquiry ones existence, without fear of punishment, is the only way to fly! thinkingblue

Kennedy says RI bishop banned him from Communion

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Roman Catholic Bishop Thomas Tobin has banned Rep. Patrick Kennedy from receiving Communion, the central sacrament of the church, in Rhode Island because of the congressman's support for abortion rights, Kennedy said in a newspaper interview published Sunday.

The decision by the outspoken prelate, reported on The Providence Journal's Web site, significantly escalates a bitter dispute between Tobin, an ultra orthodox bishop, and Kennedy, a son of the nation's most famous Roman Catholic family.

"The bishop instructed me not to take Communion and said that he has instructed the diocesan priests not to give me Communion," Kennedy told the paperin an interview conducted Friday.

Kennedy said the bishop had explained the penalty by telling him "that I am not a good practicing Catholic because of the positions that I've taken as a public official," particularly on abortion.

He declined to say when or how Tobin told him not to take the sacrament. And he declined to say whether he has obeyed the bishop's injunction.

The paper said the bishop's spokesman declined to address the question of whether he had told Kennedy not to receive Communion. But the bishop's office cast doubt on Kennedy's related assertion about instructions to state priests.

"Bishop Tobin has never addressed matters relative to public officials receiving Holy Communion with pastors of the diocese," spokesman Michael K. Guilfoyle told the paper in an e-mailed statement.

Church law permits Tobin to ban Kennedy from receiving Communion within the Diocese of Providence, which covers Rhode Island, but he cannot stop Kennedy from receiving Communion elsewhere. It was unclear whether bishops overseeing Washington and Massachusetts, where Kennedy's family has a seaside compound, would issue similar bans.

Kennedy could appeal the decision to officials in the Vatican, but the hierarchy of the Catholic church is unlikely to overturn a bishop, said Michael Sean Winters, a church observer and author of "Left At the Altar: How Democrats Lost The Catholics And How Catholics Can Save The Democrats."

"It's really bad theology," said Winters, who opposes abortion. "You're turning the altar rail into a battle field, a political battlefield no less, and it does a disservice to the Eucharist."

The dispute between the two men began in October when Kennedy in an interview on CNSNews.com criticized the nation's Catholic bishops for threatening to oppose a massive expansion of the nation's health care system unless it included tighter restrictions on federally funded abortion.

Kennedy voted against an amendment to a Democratic health care plan sought by the bishops. But he voted in favor of a health care plan that included the amendment he opposed.

Tobin, the spiritual leader of the nation's most heavily Roman Catholic state, demanded an apology from Kennedy after learning of his remarks and requested a meeting.

"While I greatly respect the Catholic Church and its leaders, like many Rhode Islanders, the fact that I disagree with the hierarchy of the church on some issues does not make me any less of a Catholic," Kennedy wrote in a letter to Tobin, agreeing to a sitdown. "I embrace my faith which acknowledges the existence of an imperfect humanity."

Their meeting fell apart. While Tobin called it a mutual decision, Kennedy accused Tobin of failing to abide by an agreement to stop discussing the congressman's faith publicly.

Tobin followed up with a biting public letter published in a diocesan newspaper.

"Sorry, you can't chalk it up to an 'imperfect humanity.' Your position is unacceptable to the Church and scandalous to many of our members. It absolutely diminishes your Communion with the Church," Tobin wrote.

In subsequent interviews, Tobin said Kennedy should not receive Communion like other Catholic politicians who support abortion rights. Still, the bishop stopped short of ordering Kennedy not to receive the sacrament.

RACING TO FIND THE GOD PARTICLE - Update Nov. 21, 2009

This is for those with inquiring minds:

I did a youtube video dubbed THE GOD PARTICLE back in August of 2007. This was to be a huge breakthrough for us in solving some of the perplexing questions about existence amongst other things, As in: What's It All About Elfie?

The first time the Atom Smasher was turned on more than a year ago, it resulted in failure, for this 10 billion dollar experiment. After a year and some $40 million in repairs it was turned on again.

This is very exciting and I hope we will, in the near future, be a little bit closer to scratching the surface about the unknowable, unknown.
;-) thinkingblue.blogspot.com

--------------

World's Largest Atom Smasher By ALEXANDER G. HIGGINS, Associated Press Writer Alexander G. Higgins, GENEVA – Scientists switched on the world's largest atom smasher for the first time since the $10 billion machine suffered a spectacular failure more than a year ago, circulating beams of protons in a significant leap forward for the Large Hadron Collider.
The European Organization for Nuclear Research has taken the restart of the collider step by step to avoid further setbacks as it moves toward new scientific experiments — probably starting in January — regarding the makeup of matter and the universe.

It has undergone a year of repairs after it was heavily damaged by a simple electrical fault.
Progress on restarting the machine, on the border between Switzerland and France, went faster than expected Friday evening and the first beam circulated in a clockwise direction around the machine at about 10 p.m. local time, said James Gillies, spokesman for the European Organization for Nuclear Research.

"Some of the scientists had gone home and had to be called back in," Gillies told The Associated Press.

The exact time of the start of the Large Hadron Collider was difficult to predict because it was based on how long it took to perform steps along the way, and in the end it happened about nine hours earlier than expected, Gillies said.

This is an important milestone on the road toward scientific discoveries at the LHC, which are expected in 2010, he said.

About two hours later the scientists circulated another beam in the opposite direction, which was the initial goal in getting the machine going again and moving it toward collisions of protons, CERN said. The LHC also will be used later for colliding lead ions — basically the nucleus of the element that is about 160 times as heavy as a single proton. That should reveal still more scientific secrets.

"It's great to see beam circulating in the LHC again," said CERN Director General Rolf Heuer. "We've still got some way to go before physics can begin, but with this milestone we're well on the way."

With great fanfare, CERN circulated its first beams Sept. 10, 2008. But the machine was sidetracked nine days later when a badly soldered electrical splice overheated and set off a chain of damage to massive superconducting magnets and other parts of the collider, in a 27-kilometer (17-mile) circular tunnel under the Swiss-French border.

CERN has $40 million on repairs and improvements on the machine to avoid a repetition.
"The LHC is a far better understood machine than it was a year ago," said Steve Myers, CERN's director for accelerators. "We've learned from our experience and engineered the technology that allows us to move on. That's how progress is made."

The LHC is expected soon to be running with more energy the world's current most powerful accelerator, the Tevatron at Fermilab near Chicago. It is supposed to keep ramping up to seven times the energy of Fermilab in coming years.

This will allow the collisions between protons on the machine to give insights into dark matter and what gives mass to other particles, and to show what matter was in the microseconds of rapid cooling after the Big Bang that many scientists theorize marked the creation of the universe billions of years ago.

The two parallel tubes the size of fire hoses send billions of protons whizzing around the collider in opposite directions at nearly the speed of light. In rooms the size of cathedrals 300 feet (100 meters) below the ground the magnets force them into huge detectors to record what happens.
The beams traveled Friday night at a relatively low energy level, but Gillies said the LHC was expected soon to start accelerating them soon so that the collisions they make will be more powerful — and revealing — creating as yet unseen insights into nature.

The LHC operates at nearly absolute zero temperature, colder than outer space, which allows the superconducting magnets to guide the protons most efficiently.

Physicists have used smaller, room-temperature colliders for decades to study the atom. They once thought protons and neutrons were the smallest components of the atom's nucleus, but the colliders showed that they are made of quarks and gluons and that there are other forces and particles. And scientists still have other questions about antimatter, dark matter and supersymmetry they want to answer with CERN's new collider.

The Superconducting Super Collider being built in Texas would have been bigger than the LHC, but in 1993 the U.S. Congress canceled it after costs soared and questions were raised about its scientific value "The next important milestone will be low-energy collisions, expected in about a week from now," said Gillies.

These will give the experiments their first collision data, enabling them to calibrate their equipment for the scientific work ahead, eagerly awaited by particle physicists from countries around the world, he said.

Until now all the data they have recorded has comes from cosmic rays from outer space.
Gillies said the LHC should be ramped up to 3.5 trillion electron volts some time next year, which will be 3 1/2 times as powerful as Fermilab. The two laboratories are friendly rivals, working on equipment and sharing scientists.

But each would be delighted to make the discovery of the elusive Higgs boson, the particle or field that theoretical gives mass to other particles. That is widely expected to deserve the Nobel Prize for physics.

More than 8,000 physicists from other labs around the world also have work planned for the LHC. The organization is run by its 20 European member nations, with support from other countries, including observers Japan, India, Russia and the U.S. that have made big contributions to the LHC.

CERN has received support from around the world in getting the LHC up and running again, the organization said.

"It's been a Herculean effort to get to where we are today," said Myers. "I'd like to thank all those who have taken part, from CERN and from our partner institutions around the world."

2007: A very interesting program on linktv called International Dateline. This eposode is about the God Particle: Physicists from all over the world are racing to prove the existence of a particle that's surmised to be at the heart of the matter. Literally.

Dubbed the "God particle" by Nobel Prize-winning physicist Leon Lederman, the Higgs boson is a controversial particle believed to bestow mass on all other particles.

About International Dateline on: http://www.linktv.org/programs/date_67SBS Dateline, which began in 1984, is Australia's longest-running international current affairs program. It has a well-earned reputation for authoritative and incisive reporting. Dateline has taken the traditional way of producing TV current affairs and turned it on its head. Reporters who used to travel with a cameraperson and sound recordist now travel alone and have the responsibility of both filming and reporting their stories. The reporters became video-journalists gaining access to people and places that the conventional camera crews cannot.

Greedaholic Drug Makers Raise Price Before Reform

Click Here: Drug makers race to raise prices on drugs to beat the target date of Government Overhaul of the health-care system... HUH?

First the Credit Card Industry tries their hand at price gauging before the deadline of Government changes go into effect, February 2010. Now BIG PHARMA jumps on the greed bandwagon, putting gluttony above altruism by raising already exuberant drug prices before reform takes place. Is BIG CORPORATE DADDY beginning to feel the slight strangulation of a Progressive Government in control? I don’t think so. What they are feeling is the loss of authority, handed to them on a silver plate by leaders in Congress who only respond to how much $$$ they can get from the greedaholic’s quid pro quo. Giving the SOB’s, carte blanche on what they can do to the rest of us. The fracturing of our fragile consumer driven economic system should have changed their behavior but as the saying goes... You Can’t Teach An Old Dog New Tricks. Only one thing counts, its bottom line ($$$), no matter who gets hurt! http://thinkingblue.blogspot.com

Benjamin Barber comment: "Democracy means pluralism. If everything’s religion, we rightly distrust it. If everything’s politics, even in good politics, we rightly distrust it. But when everything’s marketing and everything’s retail and everything’s shopping, we somehow think that enhances our freedom. Well, it doesn’t. It has the same corrupting effect on the fundamental diversity and variety that are our lives, that make us human, that make us happy. And, in that sense, focusing on shopping and the fulfillment of private consumer desires actually undermines our happiness."

Sorriest Ass News For Sunday 11/01/09

Did you ever pick up a newspaper and wished you hadn't? Well that's what happened to me this morning. It wasn't a real time Newspaper but in today's world, it's more like a Newsdigi (still I wished I hadn't clicked).

First it was a, Health Care {NO} Reform article noting the Health Care and Insurance Industry had won the long drawn out debate on REFORM...

Then gloom and doom news from Afghanistan. It's enough to make you put on a pair of rose colored glasses or stick your head in the sand. But alas, I can't do that, because then I would become part of the (Sarah Palin - Michele Bachmann et al ) crazy lunatic fringe mob on the right! thinkingblue

After all the fuss, public health plan covers few

This is beyond disgusting. Why anyone is not outraged over this (except for the insurance companies) is also beyond repulse. Good Luck America, our leaders have handed our fate over to the health insurance lobby, and Corporate Interests, once again. The next question is HOW MANY MORE WILL DIE BECAUSE OF THIS DECISION? After all the fuss, public health plan covers few By RICARDO
ALONSO-ZALDIVAR, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON – What's all the fuss about? After all
the noise over Democrats' push for a government insurance plan to
compete with private carriers, coverage numbers are finally in: Two percent.

That's the estimated share of Americans younger than
65 who'd sign up for the public option plan under the health care
bill that Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is steering toward House approval.

The underwhelming statistic is raising questions about
whether the government plan will be the iron-fisted competitor
that private insurers warn will shut them down or a niche
operator that becomes a haven for patients with health insurance horror stories.

Some experts are wondering if lawmakers have wasted
too much time arguing about the public plan, giving short shrift
to basics such as ensuring that new coverage will be affordable.

"The public option is a significant issue, but
its place in the debate is completely out of proportion to its
actual importance to consumers," said Drew Altman, president
of the nonpartisan Kaiser Family Foundation. "It has sucked
all the oxygen out of the room and diverted attention from
bread-and-butter consumer issues, such as affordable coverage and comprehensive benefits."

The Democratic health care bills would
extend coverage to the uninsured by providing government help
with premiums and prohibiting insurers from excluding people in
poor health or charging them more. But to keep from piling more
on the federal deficit, most of the uninsured will have to wait
until 2013 for help. Even then, many will have to pay a
significant share of their own health care costs....If Congress
passes a public plan that's not much of a sensation, Democrats
might have reason to regret all the time and energy they invested...

Afghan challenger drops out of runoff election - While President Obama
has to make one of the hardest decisions of anyone's lifetime,
determining, whether or not to continue a deplorable war by
sending in more fodder or withdrawing and allowing a sovereign
state to solve its own problems. Afghanistan leaders continue to
play games and commit high crimes and misdemeanors.

Did we really believe that when George W. Bush and his sidekick Dick (the dick) Cheney left office we would not have to stomach them any longer?
It seems the mess they made will be in our faces for a long time
to come. They plotted and planned, thinking they could mold parts
of our world into something more palatable to them, while
forgetting that what they were trying to shape involved human
beings (the rest is sorry ass history). STUPIDITY, to the highest
degree and we are the victims. thinkingblue

Afghan challenger drops out of runoff election

By HEIDI VOGT and RAHIM FAIEZ, Associated Press Writers

KABUL – President Hamid Karzai's
challenger withdrew Sunday from next weekend's runoff election,
effectively handing the incumbent a victory but raising doubts
about the credibility of the government at a time when the U.S.
is anxious for an effective partner in the war against the Taliban.

Former Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah said he made his
decision after Karzai turned down his demands for changes in the
Independent Election Commission and other measures that he said
would prevent massive fraud, which marred the first round balloting Aug. 20.

Abdullah stopped short of calling for an electoral boycott and
urged his followers "not to go to the streets, not to demonstrate."

Azizullah Lodin, the head of the Karzai-appointed commission,
said he would have to confer with constitutional lawyers before
deciding later Sunday whether the runoff would proceed without Abdullah.

A clouded electoral picture further complicates the Obama
administration's efforts to decide whether to send tens of
thousands more troops to Afghanistan to battle the Taliban and
its al-Qaida allies.
