Republicans To Honor Criminal Journalists

I was so upset when this O'Keefe and his criminals did something similar at the ACORN, ‘Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now’ headquarters.
And I couldn't believe how easily our politicians rushed to judge this humanitarian organization based solely on the sneaky shenanigans of these privileged few. Who were able to expose a minute number of poor silly employees who had very little common sense or they would have seen the ridiculousness of a PIMP and his PROSTITUTE coming to ACORN for advice on their Illegal activity.
The GOP is notorious for their “GOTCHA” tactics and they seem to raise their children to follow suit. A thinking person feels so helpless when something so unjust happens and you can't do squat about it. I live on a modest fixed income but I had to donate to ACORN to show my support for this association that was being unfairly penalized. I am thoroughly disgusted with The Karl Rovian strategies that the Republican Party encourages its members to use.

The four allegedly broke into the Louisiana office of Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) representing themselves as phone repairmen, then attempted to gain access to the telephone systems of the office.
O'Keefe became a star of conservative media after producing undercover videos in ACORN offices that led to Congress revoking funding of that organization.
31 House Republicans signed a resolution to honor O'Keefe and his partner, stating that they "displayed exemplary actions as government watchdogs and young journalists
Attempting to wiretap a U.S. Senator's office is neither exemplary nor honorable -- it's illegal.

President Obama Takes "Talking Points" From The GOP

I was mesmerized, when I saw Obama, taking questions (or better put Republican "Talking Points" or "Factoids") from the GOP. Anyone who is still on the fence about whether it’s the Republicans or the Democrats that will fix our country and bring it out of the mess it’s in; they should jump off to the Left side now, upon viewing. The Republicans have had a strangle hold on our nation for years and what have they done? NOTHING! Wait a minute, that's not quite true... They have all but destroyed it… stepping over the corpses of the people while they go on playing their insane games. What will it take? Total Obama failure I guess, because even while America is suffering these so called conservatives have turned, Corporations into People, Made sure health-care stayed in the hands of the insurance companies, Depleted any chance of paying off the National Debt and have turned their backs on our future. Any voter who is still going to vote Republican will be happy to know that the GOP will achieve its goal of destroying the only home most of us have known. Get Real, Start Thinking!

Long ago humans evolved in different parts of the world, once the giant leap was made from primitive brain to a critical thinking one. Some say animal to human brain. If that were the case and it happened in a moment's time... Some human-like creature probably shouted “HEY, IT JUST HIT ME, I AIN’T AN ANIMAL NO MORE!” Today, some of us won’t accept that we are part of the animal kingdom,

Back to my point, since human evolution occurred in different places on
our Earth, climate was the main factor on appearance. Cold climates beget light skin (sun far away - less pigment melanin). Hot climates... you get the point. It’s a simplification of people’s differences, but since I started thinking this way, I see people’s outer diversity, in terms of places their heritage evolved. Five little words — "I forgot he was black" — have exposed a contradiction in
the idea of a post-racial nation.

The comment came from MSNBC host Chris Matthews after President
Barack Obama's State of the Union speech Wednesday.

"He is post-racial, by all appearances," the liberal
host said on the air. "I forgot he was black tonight for an
hour. You know, he's gone a long way to become a leader of this
country, and past so much history, in just a year or two. I mean,
it's something we don't even think about."

The staunch Obama supporter meant it as praise, but it caused a
rapid furor, with many calling the quote a troubling sign that
blackness is viewed — perhaps unconsciously — as a
handicap that still needs to be overcome.

Apparently, Matthews forgot to ask black people if they WANT to be de-raced.

"As a black American I want people to remember who I am and
where I come from without attaching assumptions about deficiency
to it," said Dr. Imani Perry, a professor at Princeton's
Center for African American Studies.

Although she thought Matthews was well-intentioned, she found his
statement troubling, because "it suggests that if he had
remembered Obama's blackness, that awareness would be a barrier
to seeing him as a competent or able leader."

"The ideal is to be able to see and acknowledge everything
that person is, including the history that he or she comes from,
as well as his or her competencies and qualities, and respect all
of those things," Perry said.

That's a very different vision of "transcending race"
— a consistent theme of Obama's political history —
than one in which race has disappeared altogether.

"It's important for us to remember that everyone has a
race," Blair L.M. Kelley, an associate professor of history
at North Carolina State University. "When you say we're
going to transcend race, are white people called on to transcend their whiteness?"

I thought... IT'S GOTTA BE A JOKE. Guess what? NO JOKE! (or is it )

WHADDAYATHINK? I hope it's not a joke... I would certainly like to see how our laws will handle this one. Buzz Up Article Brings Bigots Out In Droves

I've used Buzz Up but after realizing most of the people who comment, are non-thinking right-wing bigots, so I’ve shied away from it. I came across this article about Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer and his unspeakable remarks about poor people and how most Dems have railed against such distasteful bigotry. It made the Buzz Up-ers angry because they agree with the intolerant ARSE Bauer. Instead of counter commenting, I decided to flag it. Below my comment.
The story wasn’t offensive per se; it reported on the bigotry in politics. The comments, on the other hand were so offensive, they made me ashamed to call myself an American. Why are right-wingers so hateful? I don’t use Buzz because it attracts bigots. Buzz has become a place where they can spew animosity towards anyone who doesn't resemble themselves in body or mind. They are proud to admit their ignorance and pat each other on their virtual backs in agreement. Thumbs up on hate and down on any contradiction to their idea of reality. thinkingblue

SC politician's welfare comments called `immoral'

When things looked their darkest for Gov. Mark Sanford — when he was in danger of being impeached for running off to Argentina to see his mistress — his best insurance policy may well have been South Carolina's lieutenant governor, Andre Bauer.
Lawmakers knew if they removed Sanford, they would end up with Bauer, a fiercely ambitious Republican with a reputation for reckless and immature behavior.
Now Bauer has folks shaking their heads again, after he likened government assistance to the poor to feeding stray animals.
Bauer
said: "My grandmother was not a highly educated woman, but she told me as a small child to quit feeding stray animals. You know why? Because they breed! You're facilitating the problem if you give an animal or a person ample food supply. They will reproduce, especially ones that don't think too much further than that."

Democrats and others railed at him.

I guess Fox News decided their viewers were too heartless to see a telethon that was dedicated to bringing relief for the victims of Haiti. They were correct in their assumption because O'Reilly boasted how his ratings exceeded all other broadcasts (other broadcasts who aired the telethon, I guess) of that night. They deserve their merciless viewers and their viewers deserve their malevolent Fox (News?) TV station... What a repulsive lot they are. Credit-Card Issuers Find Creative Ways to Skirt New Law

Between now and Feb. 22 when the new credit-card rules go into
effect, you'll see a lot of excited media types talking about all
of the good to come out of those regulations, but as a consumer
you should worry about what's still on the menu. The card issuers
have been cooking up all kinds of new things that their bottom line will find appetizing,he Credit Card Accountability, Responsibility and Disclosure Act,
known as the CARD Act, aims to help consumers deal with card
issuers' more troubling policies, but by the time this reform is
fully in place, the industry will have moved on to new ways to
skin the customer, ways that have become evident over the last
few months as the first provisions of the law came into play and
financial-services businesses scrambled to squeeze through loopholes.

"The provisions of the CARD act were excellent and they
addressed key problems but because card issuers are in the
business to make money, you had to think they would find other
ways to make up for the revenue they were losing because of the
law," said Bill Hardekopf of LowCards.com. "Now they
are instituting a number of other practices -- perfectly legal
even after the new law -- to make up for lost revenue, and
consumers now have some new things to worry about."

The new law was designed to defeat several bad practices. For
example, starting in February, due dates for monthly payments
must be the same each month. Any payment amount beyond the
minimum must be applied to the highest-rate debt on the account.
Rate hikes on existing balances on fixed-rate cards are
prohibited under most conditions. Card issuers can't charge
additional fees when consumers pay by mail, electronic transfer,
online or phone unless the customer requests an expedited payment
to avoid a late fee. Other practices, like "double-cycle
billing" -- where the issuer adds finance charges for
previous billing cycles to an account that was paid off because
there was an average daily balance until the debt was paid -- are off the menu too.

corporate propaganda as a means of protecting corporate power

institutions: kings and princes, priestly castes, military
juntas, party dictatorships, or modern corporations.” --Noam

On Tuesday, January 19, the Obama administration got a kick in
the pants from Massachusetts voters when they filled former
Senator Ted Kennedy’s seat by electing a conservative
Republican candidate. The essence of their message was stop
dithering and start governing; stop trying to satisfy the bankers
and please the editors of Rupert Murdoch’s Wall Street
Journal, and start caring for the ordinary people.

Two days later, President Barack Obama seemed to have understood
the people’s message when he announced a “Volcker
rule” that will forbid large banks from owning hedge funds
that make money by placing large bets against their own clients,
using information that these same clients gave them. It was time.
Such a policy should have been announced months ago, if not years ago.

On the same day, however, a nonelected body, the U.S. Supreme
Court, threw a different challenge to the Obama administration.
Indeed, on Thursday January 21, a Republican-appointed majority
on the U.S. Supreme Court took it upon itself to profoundly
change the U.S. Constitution and American democracy. Indeed, in
what can be labeled a most reactionary decision, the Roberts U.S.
Supreme Court ruled that legal entities, such as corporations and
labor unions, have the same purely personal rights to free speech
as living individuals. Indeed, the First Amendment of the U.S.
Constitution says “Congress shall make no law . . .
abridging the freedom of speech.

The only problem with such a wide interpretation of the U.S.
Bills of Rights (N.B.: The first 10 amendments to the United
States Constitution are known as the Bill of Rights) is that this
runs contrary to its letter and its spirit, since it clearly
states later on that “the enumeration in the Constitution,
of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage
others retained by the people, and reserves all powers not
granted to the federal government to the citizenry or
States.” The words “people” and
“citizenry” clearly refer here to living human beings,
not to legal or artificial entities such as business
corporations, labor unions, financial organizations or political lobbies.

Such entities, for example, cannot vote in an election. Indeed,
laws governing voting rights in the United States clearly
establish that only “Adult citizens of the United States who
are residents of one of the 50 states have the right to
participate fully in the political system of the United States.”
No mention is made of corporations or other legal entities.

However, with its January 21 decision, the majority on the
Roberts U.S. Supreme Court is saying in effect that even if
artificial entities cannot vote in an election, they can spend as
much money as they like to influence the outcome of an election.
Money is speech for them, and the more a legal entity has of it,
the more it has a right to become powerful politically and
control the political agenda.

In fact, what Chief Justice Roberts and his conservative Supreme
Court majority have done is to overcome a century-old democratic
tradition in the United States in granting a constitutional right
to business corporations and to banks, (because they are really
the ones with a lot of money), to use their enormous resources to
not only participate in debates about public issues, but also,

and above all,

to de facto dictate the election of candidates of their choice to public office.

That’s plutocracy, not democracy!

Very interesting, The Financial Experts agree that people should walk away from the burden of paying a mortgage on a house that’s not worth the dirt it was built upon. I'm glad to hear murmurings from the “EXPERTS” like… HEY GUYS, IT'S OK TO DEFAULT. IT’S OK TO GO BANKRUPT. IT’S OK TO ASK FOR HELP. For too long, social safety-nets were only respectable for Corporations. For the rest of us this need was touted as shameful. The GOP and BLUEDOGS, since Reagan, have been quite vocal in suggesting that not having enough income to make ends
meet is, FAILURE. Of course, not enough income for a business was excused as something outside a corporation’s own doing, in other words NOT THEIR FAULT. Welfare reform won approval and was passed by a Democrat in sheep’s clothing. The upshot from this little humdinger made it almost a crime to ask for help,
unless of course, you were, YOU GUESSED IT, A CORPORATION. Since SCOTUS deemed corporations, people… they should be subject to the same SHAME as the rest of us “PEOPLE” who have succumbed to hard times.

Strategic Defaults and the Foreclosure Crisis

Nearly a year after the Obama administration unveiled its
ambitious housing rescue program, foreclosure tallies continue to
break records. Foreclosure filings were reported on more than 2.8
million properties in 2009, up 21 percent from the previous year
and 120 percent from 2007, according to RealtyTrac. With nearly
10 percent of mortgages now delinquent--which is also a new
record--even more homeowners appear headed for foreclosure this
year. "A massive supply of delinquent loans continues to
loom over the housing market," RealtyTrac CEO James J.
Saccacio said in a statement. "Many of those delinquencies
will end up in the foreclosure process in 2010 and beyond."

Homeowners have found themselves in foreclosure for a number
of reasons. Some purchased properties they could never really
afford. Others lost their jobs--the national unemployment rate
remains in the double digits--and had no way to make mortgage
payments. But as the crisis rumbles forward, an additional driver
of home foreclosures has become clear: Many borrowers have the
means to keep paying the mortgage but are simply walking away
because they believe it's best for their finances.

The number of so called "strategic defaults" more
than doubled, to 588,000, from 2007 to 2008, according to a study
by Experian and Oliver Wyman. A separate 2009 survey found that
more than a quarter of all existing defaults were strategic.
Meanwhile, a growing number of academics are touting the
financial benefits of walking away. "Homeowners should be
walking away in droves," Brent T. White, a University of
Arizona law school professor, said in a recent paper. "The
financial costs of foreclosure, while not insignificant, are
minimal compared to the financial benefit of strategic

Devalued paper currency in the international community. Kleptocracy (a government or state in which those in power exploit national resources and steal; rule by a thief or thieves.) - those in positions of influence use their time in office to maximize their own gains, always ensuring that any shortfall is made up by those unfortunates whose daily life involves earning money rather than making it. There must be no principle of accountability within the government so that the political corruption by which the banana republic operates is left unchecked. The members of the national legislature will be (a) largely for sale and (b) consulted only for ceremonial and rubber-stamp purposes some time after all the truly important decisions have already been made elsewhere....a money class fleeces the banking system while the very trunk of the national tree is permitted to rot and crash... Haiti: the land where children eat mud

This is the most distressing of reads. You can't help but wonder (Why?) after each stressful sentence. The article reports the facts of Haiti but not the whys. Cruelty and worse hopelessness is the rule for the Haitian people. Now after an Earthquake it seems their plight is getting notice. How disgusting that it takes such an act of horror to wake people up. My only hope is that as the dust settles over this devastated land, the world's empathy doesn’t settle with it.

dictatorships, voodoo and slavery. Half a century ago, when it was under the
tyranny of François “Papa Doc” Duvalier and his “zombie” militia, Graham
Greene called Haiti the “nightmare republic”. Though Papa Doc has long gone,
the nightmares have never ended in this Caribbean dystopia. Haiti is the
poorest country and only Third World nation in the western hemisphere, and

AVATAR RACIST! Claim Conservatives

Does it matter that many conservatives are riled by what they call liberal environmental and anti-military messages?




Some see racist theme in alien adventure 'Avatar' (AP)

- Near the end of the hit film "Avatar," the villain
snarls at the hero, "How does it feel to betray your own
race?" Both men are white — although the hero is
inhabiting a blue-skinned, 9-foot-tall, long-tailed alien.

Strange as it may seem for a film that pits greedy, immoral
humans against noble denizens of a faraway moon,
"Avatar" is being criticized by a small but vocal group
of people who allege it contains racist themes — the white
hero once again saving the primitive natives.

Since the film opened to widespread critical acclaim three weeks
ago, hundreds of blog posts, newspaper articles, tweets and
YouTube videos have said things such as the film is "a
fantasy about race told from the point of view of white
people" and that it reinforces "the white Messiah fable."

The film's writer and director, James Cameron, says the real
theme is about respecting others' differences.

Avatar Racist! Claim Conservatives!

So what’s new? Whenever there’s anything that comes to light exposing the evils of greed and the exaltation of Nature, out come the Conservative Gormandizers to stamp it out. It's as though they can only view life as a mercenary deal and Nature a commodity.

“Avatar” was one of those rare movies laying message that maybe there is a better way to live life. The theme, to me anyhow, was to feel all life as one,
interconnected and only as strong as its weakest point. If we could think all life adjoined it would make our Earth experience so superior.

But unfortunately “Avatar” is fantasy. Our living planet is violent and the food chain quite harsh with most life forms enslaved by instincts. Humans could
lift themselves from the instinct to kill (mainly for profit) but HOLY CONSERVATIVE, BATMAN, there’s no lucre in that. So a bitter road we travel. But once in awhile an entertainment piece comes out that lifts us from this burdensome quandary, momentarily.

Now This Is Magic (Jack that is)

A teenage dream comes true. For all of you who are the caregivers to teenagers, I'm sure you received a bill or two over (or should I say WAY OVER) the minutes allotted to you by your Cell Phone Carrier. It happened in our family and to avoid a mountain of stress old grandma and grandpop paid the bill. If only MagicJack would have brought this little dandy of an item to us (the consumers) we would have still had $300 in our bank account. But don't get your hopes up; I'm sure it will be short lived. ( quicker than a roach can run across a kitchen floor once the lights are turned on.)

MagicJack's next act: disappearing cell phone fees
The company behind the magicJack, the cheap Internet phone gadget that's been heavily promoted on TV, has made a new version of the device that allows free calls from cell phones in the home, in a fashion that's sure to draw protest from cellular carriers.
YMax Corp., which is based in Palm Beach, Fla., said this week at the International Consumers Electronics Show that it plans to start selling the device in about four months for $40, the same price as the original magicJack. As before, it will provide free calls to the U.S. and Canada for one year.
The device is, in essence, a very small cellular tower for the home.
