GOP is Rotting Away
David Brooks wrote an interesting article in the NYT about his beloved Republican Party. Make no mistake this article isn’t the same ole, same ole Republican trite about pulling up boot straps and their mistaken belief that only conservatives know what is best for the rest of us. Brooks now sees what has happened to the GOP and is angry, sad and depressed to the point of hopelessness. Wait a minute, he's a conservative to the degree of severely just like Mitt Romney,
"Romney told right-wing activists that he had been a “severely” conservative governor."
yet Brooks feels the same hopelessness we progressive Democrats are feeling with the toxic nature present within the 3 branches of our government. If one staunch Republican (I disliked Brooks way of thinking thoroughly) has finally stopped drinking the GOP koolaid and opened his koolaid hangover eyes to reality, maybe our future won't be as hopeless and bleak, as we, who can still think, thought. thinkingblue
The G.O.P. Is RottingBy David BrooksExcerpt: The Republican Party is doing harm to every cause it purports to serve. If Republicans accept Roy Moore as a United States senator, they may, for a couple years, have one more vote for a justice or a tax cut, but they will have made their party loathsome for an entire generation. The pro-life cause will be forever associated with moral hypocrisy on an epic scale. The word “evangelical” is already being discredited for an entire generation. Young people and people of color look at the Trump-Moore G.O.P. and they are repulsed, maybe forever. Now watch VICE NEWS video about why Alabamians are so proud of their ignorance and bigotry. UNBELIEVABLE and incredibly sad!
