FAIR AND BALANCED, MY ASS!

The Fox News or better yet Fox Noise (as Keith Olbermann calls it) is and always has been a joke to me. I use to watch it during the early lead up days to Bush's illegal war against Iraq. Until one day they attempted to demonize Saddam Hussein one step further than they already had with their constant pummeling of HE KILLED HIS OWN PEOPLE SADDAM HUSSEIN HAD WMD'S POINTED AT AMERICA and of course, when no weapons were found they bludgeoned their viewers with IT WAS AMERICA'S JOB TO LIBERATE IRAQIS FROM A BRUTAL RULER. But that day when I tuned in (for the last time) and saw a pathetic little dog staggering against a wall and the voiceover said SADDAM HUSSEIN CONDUCTED POISON GAS TESTS ON DOGS... I spoke the word I use frequently when I'm in a state of extreme perplexity... HUH? Let's see now, who was this bit of propaganda directed at? Oh, I know it was for those who don't become alarmed at human beings becoming collateral damage but OH NO, THE MONSTER TORTURED DOGS! Now, I'm not making light of Hussein's methods to hold an unstable nation together with strong-arm procedures. Indeed the man was without conscience or empathy but PLEASE STOP THE DEMAGOGUERY! FOX NEWS or FOX NOISE or FAUX REPORTING OF THE NEWS, became history to me after that because since I have a brain... I enjoy using it and will forever battle those cobwebs who would like to take over that space above my eyeballs. Please read the article FAIR AND BALANCED MY ASS! The Bizarre Reality of Fox News

Little Bush on Comedy Central

"Lil' Bush on Comedy Central."
Lil' Bush on Comedy Central is the most outrageous caustic bit of black comedy since Myra Breckinridge the movie. The adult cartoon sitcom takes liberties with George W Bush as a child and intertwines his outlandish adult conduct as president. Which oddly, seems less emphasized coming from a juvenile's mind, since children can get away with so much more because of their innocence. That being said, the Lil' Bush kid, still comes across as arrogant, rude and pretentiously pious just like the grown-up George. Below are 3 short videos of Lil' Bush, Enjoy or repulse. thinkingblue.blogspot.com

Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea.

"Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea."

It makes no sense to keep going after the dwindling oil supplies of this world AT ANY COST! Why aren't serious non-political and non-self enriching explorations occurring for alternate energy. It's there for the taking but the OILMEN just want to keep the upper Oil Class of people happy until every last drop is taken from the Earth. Then out of necessity (mainly because of dwindling profit stockpiles) they will search for another way to get rich off the backs of the ignorant eager to be the first on the block to sport the latest fandango gizmo of a new energy. thinkingblue.blogspot.com

Goal: 50,000

Deadline: Ongoing...

See Full Petition

Officials in the Bush/Cheney Interior Department intend to allow harmful new
drilling in tens of millions of environmentally sensitive acres off the coast of
Alaska, including an area closed to drilling after the disastrous Exxon Valdez
oil spill in 1989. Federal officials have also proposed new drilling leases off
the coasts of Florida and Virginia.

These areas are teeming with wildlife, including imperiled whales, sea otters
and sea turtles. New drilling could destroy these important coastal ecosystems
and the wildlife and tourist economies that depend on them.

We need thousands of concerned conservationists to demand that the
administration rescind this destructive proposal immediately. Sign this petition
today to urge Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne to stop trying to hand
over our coasts to Big Oil!

A tangled web we weave, when practice to deceive!

US Army Pushes For Amnesty Bill Fast Track So It Can Recruit Illegal Aliens

How sad is this... Our mainstream news would probably spin this like a benevolent story of HELP for the families who are struggling to become American citizens in this wonderful land of opportunity and advantages for the few. But the truth of the matter is... THEY NEED MORE BOOTS TO CONTINUE THIS OUTRAGEOUS WAR IN THE HOPE TO SAVE FACE!! It's hard to believe, all the efforts to continue sending troops to Iraq are only to help this president's place in history because of a war that never should have been waged. A war of lies, no matter the spin, it seems this is the only truth. "Oh what a tangled web we weave, When first we practice to deceive!" - Sir Walter Scott
Once again, how sad. thinkingblue.blogspot.com

US Army Pushes For Amnesty Bill Fast Track So It Can Recruit Illegal Aliens
A senior US defense official today urged the Congress to fast track a section of the stalled immigration bill that would allow the military to recruit illegal aliens, after
recruitment figures released by Pentagon showed that the Army failed to reach
its targets for May.
The Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors, or DREAM, provision in the immigration bill was expected to help boost military recruiting by allowing illegal aliens
to enlist as way to obtain citizenship, Bill Carr, acting deputy undersecretary of defense for military personnel policy,
told a veterans’ group
representatives
.
IF...
you were a minor child and have been in the U.S. school system for a number of
years, then you could be eligible to enlist,” he said. “And at the end of that enlistment, then you would be eligible to become a citizen.” Carr said.
The Pentagon has declared war on US soveriegnty.
National Guard met only 88 percent...

A REQUEST FOR MORE TERROR ATTACKS, ANY TAKERS?

THIS ONE TAKES THE CAKE! First, PNAC wished for a NEW PEARL HARBOR (September 2000: PNAC Report Recommends Policies that Need ‘New Pearl Harbor’ for Quick Implementation.) And now one of their own is wishing and hoping and praying... for more terrorist' attacks in America so the American people will appreciate George W Bush... Arkansas GOP head: We need more 'attacks on American soil' so people appreciate Bush
In his first interview as the chairman of the Arkansas Republican Party, Dennis
Milligan told a reporter that America needs to be attacked by terrorists so that
people will appreciate the work that President Bush has done to protect the
country.
president is doing the right thing, and I think all we need is some attacks on
American soil like we had on [Sept. 11, 2001]," Milligan said to the Arkansas
Democrat-Gazette, "and the naysayers will come around very quickly to appreciate
not only the commitment for President Bush, but the sacrifice that has been made
by men and women to protect this country."
Milligan, who was elected as the new chair of the Arkansas Republican Party just
two weeks ago, also told the newspaper that he is "150 percent" behind Bush in
the war in Iraq.

ALL MY LIFE, TROUBLE IN AMERICA.

I caught this clip of Dennis Kucinich on TV the other night... Luckily, I was taping a previous show on Religion and Politics. I thought, as I listened to this man speaking of peace and harmony...

WHY NOT?

Why can't we have an America, a world where we respect one another. Why should this be a pipedream of naive people. I feel it could happen, I feel it should happen. If it doesn't, we will not just have wars, we will have annihilation. I am far from a doomsayer but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to predict the inevitable with all the nuclear weapons stockpiled around the world and more countries trying or succeeding to get their hands on these WMD's themselves. If we stop laughing at those who champion peace instead of conflict to solve problems... maybe someday peace and cooperation will have the reverence it should. www.thinkingblue.blogspot.com

REFLECTIONS ON WORKING POOR, MIDDLECLASS AND AOHELL'S BLOG

I like blogs. They are like editorials from the ordinary, statements from the common person who work, pay bills, and pay taxes on her/his compensational wages. With this money she/he goes out, at the end of her/his hard workday, buys the things she/he needs and pays taxes again. What does she/he get in return for all her/his labors and double taxation. She/He gets the chance to get up the next day and do it all again. That's what it seems anyway, for the ordinary American middleclass person who is constantly climbing a greased pole trying to stay out of the ranks of the poor dangling below her/his suspension on this Achilles' heel of a pole. It has too fast become an inescapable failure for most to stay economically afloat. Two salaries per household and still they can't pass muster and avoid the catch-phrase "working poor". Please read http://www.aohell.com/archives/cat_americanpresidency.html or AOHELL'S blog, http://www.aohell.com/index.html Thanks, thinkingblue.blogspot.com

A Reflection on George Orwell, Red Cloud, Heaven, and Hell

We of the sinking middle class may sink without further struggles into the
working class where we belong, and probably when we get there it will not be so
dreadful as we feared, for, after all, we have nothing to lose. -- George
Orwell

In reality, the people vote upon a pre-approved slate of candidates who either
are members of the Republican or Democrat parties, who enjoy a co-dominion in US
politics, or they vote for people who had to do far, far more than show up sober
to one of the Republican or Democrat nominating committees.
And do they respond to the people?
Income disparity continues to widen in America.
the very money I pay to keep the wolves away from my door goes to the pockets of
the owners of those wolves and makes their wallets fat with my cash.
And general welfare for who?
Blessings of liberty?
The truth is cruel, but it can be loved, and it makes free those who have
loved it. -- George Santayana

IF ONLY... US DIDN'T INVADE IRAQ... IF ONLY.

CLIPMARK COMMENTS ON "TURKEY WARNED NOT TO INVADE IRAQ"

On this, thinkingblue says:

We know Iraq is a powder keg but did we know just how much. Bush keeps muttering the word WIN... I can't imagine what the hell he hopes to win... is it OIL, PRESTIGE, POWER or all of the above? Now Turkey is getting effected by the Iraq lawlessness this war has caused. Regional warfare was the cautionary counsel put to the Bush/Neocons about a preemptive war in Iraq which, of course, they turned a deaf ear to... Well, it looks as though we are looking at far more than a Bush WIN in Iraq. While Bush has his wet dreams of becoming the planet's most beloved leader, we just might be looking down the barrel of some indisputable WMD's that are not hidden away in some Bush/Neocon pipedream. thinkingblue

Now for the comments: 8 Comments

Slowly but surely this conflict is drawing in country after country. In my
opinion this is going to end in a world war The countries I fear the most are
Syria, Libiya, Iran and Russian (given their cozy relationship with Iran). And
Bush has the gumption to rattle his sabre at Iran. It scares me silly! He's
deluding himself if he thinks the US is invincible. The conflict is broadening.
How can he possibly contain the conflagration? Britain and the US lost all
credibility in the eyes of the world when they invaded Iraq on the basis of a
lie. It was all for oil. Neither country lifted a finger to rescue the million
people butchered in Rwanda because Rwanda has little or no mineral value to the
western world. Neither did the US lift a finger to help the millions who died
under Pol Pot's regime in Cambodia following the Vietnam war, for exactly the
same reason. Oh, the hypocrisy and the inhumanity of it all!

jatfla

There are several million Turkish Kurds living in Turkey. There has been
repression and segregation of these Kurds for decades with sporadic fighting as
the Kurds sought economic and political advancement within Turkey. It's very
complicated and a long-time conflict; not something that has occurred over the
last 5 yrs.

" The disparity and repression led to the formation of an armed separatist
movement, the PKK, in 1984. While the majority of Turkey's Kurds do not openly
support separatism from the Turkish state, many do support the PKK, as the only
force fighting for broader Kurdish cultural, economic and political rights."

Portions of Turkey use to belong to the Kurds (Kurdistan, I believe) and so
there is a conflict, not unlike the one between Pakistan and India, going on
over territory and borders.

egoldstein

Could you imagine the reaction of countries that are told by the U.S. that they
shouldn't unilaterally attack a territory to go after people who are attacking
them. Hypocrite has to be the first word on everyone's mind.

There is no such thing as Arab unity, with the only exception being common hate
of infidels

They are their own worst enemy

Dictatorship, (hopefully benevolent), monarchy and pseudo democracy, (on strong

sphere.

BobbyRutan

Regardless of jatfla's informative comment about the history between the
Turkish-Kurdish conflict, egoldstein is correct.

We ceeded the right to lecture anyone about invading other countries over
perceived security issues the moment we launched our bogus pre-emptive war
against Iraq. I wish someone in Washington had used some brain power before they
proceeded to open Pandora's Box.

Tylast

Turkey is afraid that if Iraq splits into thirds...that the Northern Kurdish
Nation would naturally acquire the Southern Half of Turkey which is mostly
Kurdish. They're being proactive....besides, there's lots of oil up there.

thinkingblue

Unbelievable, the facts you gain just because a bunch of knuckleheads got
together, stole an election, actualized their dreams of a second Pearl Harbor, which enabled them to flex their illusionary muscle and preempt a war on a
little country loaded with oil. Not being a history buff, I knew little about
Turkey, maybe some statistics such as, it was democratic, and it was secular... And of course most of us took notice when the knuckleheads kept trying to persuade Turkey to let U.S. forces use its territory to invade Iraq... Turkey said NO GO and little old naive me, from the getgo, unequivocally thought the USA should not go into Iraq with force ... had hoped this Turkey setback would wake up the blockheads and make them realize it was a BAD IDEA. But, sadly, it just wasn't in the cards. When the power hungry lust for something there will be NO THINKING TWICE, just like kids hypnotized by TV cartoons, they were hypnotized with their grandiose ideas. Anyway, I am always thankful to learn something new (or old but new to me) but somehow I wished the knowledge I've gained had remained unattained, that would have meant the US invasion of Iraq never happened. If only... and then, maybe this would not be the headlines for
today:
Seven US Troops Killed in Iraq Attacks
A spate of bombings and shootings over the last couple of days killed seven US
soldiers and wounded eight others in Baghdad and surrounding areas, the US
military said Sunday. (if only... thinkingblue)

THE UNATTAINED

by: Elizabeth Oakes-Smith (1806-1893)

AND is this life? and are we born for this?

To follow phantoms that elude the grasp,

Or whatso'er's secured, within our clasp,

To withering lie, as if each mortal kiss

Were doomed death's shuddering touch alone to meet.

O Life! has thou reserved no cup of bliss?

Must still THE UNATTAINED beguile our feet?

The UNATTAINED with yearnings fill the breast,

That rob, for aye, the spirit of its rest?

Yes, this is Life; and everywhere we meet,

Not victor crowns, but wailings of defeat;

Yet faint thou not, thou dost apply a test,

That shall incite thee onward, upward still,

The present cannot sate, nor e'er thy spirit fill.

SUNDAY MORNING TEARS

SUNDAY MORNING TEARS

I listened to this NPR radio broadcast of 3 mothers who
had lost sons in Iraq. As a mother myself, my empathy for these women and their loss was intense... I read and hear of the numbers dead each day but the impact is minimal, a quick tear and a feeling of helplessness is scarcely the grip I get when something is so redundant. Until you hear from the actual true sufferers of this war, THE MOTHERS, THE FAMILIES, you can't imagine the cost these people actualize. Please listen to their stories of pain. Especially, Elaine Johnson, one brave mother who dared to call Bush on his lack of knowledge and sensitivity about waging this disgusting collide with reality. Be prepared to undergo the painful tears of sorrow and grief in identification to those unfortunates caught up in a game of chess by the neoconservative think-tanker's who have only power and approval to lose.

THE CONCOCTING OF THE NEWS

"Media Matters"; by Jamison Foser A rich man in a poor man's shirt

Imagine how the media would react if a multimillionaire, East Coast, big-city, thrice-married presidential candidate who was a progressive Democrat said his most recent music purchase was opera, his favorite fitness activity, golf, and added that he doesn't drive -- he navigates.

The media would have an absolute field day, yammering endlessly about how the candidate is too "soft" and is an elitist, an arrogant know-it-all with a misguided sense of entitlement who is hopelessly out of touch with the rugged
regular-folk who live in Michigan and enjoy NASCAR and country music and drive pickups. There would be a real danger of Chris Matthews literally exploding on live television, unable to contain his incredulity that such a clueless
candidate could possibly think a Pennsylvania steelworker would care what he has to say But when the three leading (for now) Republican presidential candidates reveal their fondness for opera (Giuliani), have their pets named after fashion accessories (McCain), and boast that if they weren't running for president,
they'd probably be running an auto company (Romney), it passes without notice.

So when longtime lobbyist and Hollywood actor Fred Thompson -- a man who once rented a red pickup truck in order to campaign in Tennessee as a man of the people -- indicated this week that he would seek the Republican presidential nomination, we knew how the media would describe him: Authentic. Folksy. Let's back up a moment: Thompson didn't even drive the rented pickup, as The Washington Monthly reported in 1996: READ MORE HERE

THE CONCOCTING OF THE NEWS!

This is unfortunately the truth. The media has different rules on how they present progressives running for office and conservatives running for what they consider to be their office. I am so tired of watching these so called news outlets MSNBC, CNN and the other local stations CBS, NBC, ABC, that I resort to Jon Stewart, Colbert and Bill Maher's HBO Real Time (which incidentally has taken an hiatus for about 6 months...RATS!) for some truth and a bit of well needed laughter.

Thank goodness, I can turn to Link TV and Democracy Now CLICKOnce in awhile to know what really is going on in the world (although, quite depressing at times)... Without that little reality shot-in-the-brain I would be totally in the dark or worse BRAINWASHED with a permanent pair of ROSE COLORED GLASSES stuck to my face.
