Might Is Right...pun intended.

MIGHT IS RIGHT
(pun intended)

Why does it seem like, those on the right side of the political spectrum, only advocate senselessness? I mean, they rah-rah-siss-boom-bah war and cheer FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT... without the least notion of what they are really rooting for. Which is of course, human suffering and spiritual decay. Why does the military get so much respect from so many conservatives, as long as they are willing to kill everything in sight? Why, when the praised warriors come home, wounded, maimed or spiritually depleted, do they become NOTHING? It must be so demoralizing to any veteran to be reduced to the same rubble, they helped create in another land. It appears, their only worth is their stamina and their ability to hate. Once that usefulness of body and drive is reduced and their minds turn to questioning the reasons they were sent to destroy; they thus become, a nuisance to their partisan government or a financial burden to be swept aside or under the proverbial rug. Don't Dittoheads realize that when we believe in nothing but destruction to resolve problems, it proves, we have changed little since the first Homo sapien picked up a club and battered another of his specie's to a pulp? If only they could wake up and see that when we make fighting our only motivation it reduces our significance on this Earth, to a trek of following our noses through existence. It saddens me to believe that probably there will be no awakening for the warmonger, (especially with Limbaughs around for them to absorb). They will continue to epitomize the same basic, instinctual logic of primitive man, that Might is Right, pun intended. thinkingblue@blogspot.com

PS:Thanks to Keith Olbermann and his ability to express so poignantly the inequalities present in our society.

clipped from bravenewfilms.org

Thanks to Dometheus Nash for this eloquent and sobering contribution to dignity.

Watch Countdown’s Keith Olbermann air a somber and enraging segment on the sad state of affairs for our veterans on Veteran's Day. Talking with Paul Rieckhoff from IAVA, Olbermann blasted George Bush for ducking out of the ceremonies at Arlington Cemetery, talked about the growing number of homeless Iraq & Afghanistan vets and the utterly disgraceful silencing of anti-Iraq veterans in Massachusetts and Southern California who were not allowed to participate in Veterans Day parades, some were even arrested.

On the one day of the year their voices should have been heard and they should have been honored, they were instead betrayed by their fellow citizens. I don't have the words to describe that kind of cruelty.

THE GHOSTS OF TORTURE and THE CLINTON BODY COUNT

I was sent this email the other day... THE CLINTON BODY COUNT BY Ester Zone
Staff: http://www.etherzone.com/body.html

My friend wrote: THE CLINTON BODY COUNT By: Ether Zone Staff

MAN! I knew about Foster and suspicions over the plane crash of Ron Brown, had heard that the far right had accused Clinton of all sorts of connections to people winding up dead, but had never seen the list of ALL there were! That is just too massive for any "coincidence." ( friend)

-------------------------------------------
thinkingblue Reply To Friend:

I went to urban legends (Snopes) on this one... just sounded a bit too bizarre for my blood... and not only that... it kind of smelled like a Republican Swiftboat circulation... When you click this link, you will see the article by the Ether Zone Staff...word for word on Snopes...
WITH A BIG FAT False. thinkingblue

The Clinton Body Count

Claim: Bill Clinton has been quietly doing away with those who oppose him.

Status: False.

Origins:
A new version of a lengthy list of deaths associated with Bill Clinton began circulating on the Internet in August 1998. According to it, there have been close to fifty suspicious deaths of colleagues, advisors and citizens who were about to testify against the Clintons, with the unstated implication that Bill Clinton or
his henchmen were behind each untimely demise.

We shouldn't have to tell anyone not to believe this claptrap, but we will anyway. In a frenzied media climate where the Chief Executive couldn't boff a White House intern without the whole world finding out every niggling detail of each encounter and demanding his removal from office, are we seriously to believe the same man had been having double handfuls of detractors and former friends murdered with impunity?
---------------------------------------

My friend wrote back:

But they don't refute those people died, do they? And it really is suspicious. They say that every other public figure knows a very very wide circle of people and that things like this are bound to happen. YET, No such list exists for any other public figure, even the evil Dubwa. So I can't boil it down to "Republican Scrutiny" or "Anti-Clinton propaganda". Either.
PLUS, Who says Snopes has the last word on Truth, anyway?
Who are they? Why should I believe them any more than any other internet
site??
Frankly, even if not EVERY name on the list was offed by the Clintons, plane
crashes and failed brakes in a new car are so easy to jimmy, that there is
probably reason to be suspicious about a few names on the list, anyway.
Did you know Hillary had an affair back in 1969 with Arthur Turco, who was
involved in at least one murder himself?? (friend)

-----------------

My Thinkingblue reply:

Politics is mean and thoroughly nasty... They (those in power) will cut the throats of anyone who is a perceived threat... It's a pity how these
SWIFTBOATERS get away with what they do... (I think it was Justice William J. Brennan, Jr - a champion for us liberals - who opened the doors for the assholes, like Rush Limbaugh, to drum their sick worthless gossip into the hearts and minds of some of the American populous. How sad he would feel if he were alive today.)

But I also blame the people who, so easily buy into these absurd rumors and scandalize gossip. Believe me, if there was a hint of truth in the
Ether Zone Staff claim... the REPUGNANTS would be all over it and both Hillary and Bill would be awaiting torture in some far away HELL HOLE after being victims of EXTRAORDINARY RENDITION. That's how much the creeps on the right hate them. I am not hoping for a Hillary victory next year but if she gets the nomination on the Dem ticket, I will vote for her. She and Bill both subscribe to the Republican agenda of government by the rich, (plutocracy) and are allies of Corporate wellness above the Peoples wellness but she is not a reckless lunatic like so many of the ones in office now. If our rights aren't soon protected we will loose them altogether... and we will be as much in the dark about reality as the North Koreans are. If this happens... THERE WILL BE MANY CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTORS (or anyone who thinks) ACCUSED OF SOME SORT OF CAPITAL CRIME BY A KANGAROO COURT AND EXECUTED.

The below clip asks... Why the Liberal media allows the right-wing nuts so much levity without objection... although I think this is changing, AT LEAST I HOPE IT IS... thinkingblue

ONE STEP MORE: We’ll speak later this week about Sunday’s Meet the Press,
where the Head Raccoon drug out Sally Bedell Smith to gossip and chat about
Hillary Clinton. That said, it would be hard to top this review of the session
by Digby, who notes the way the Head Raccoon seems to apply a brand new standard when a lady applies for a spot in the White House instead of the usual
gentlemen. That said, we’ll also recommend this second Digby piece. But we’ll
suggest that you ask one more question:

Digby quotes the latest statement by Glenn Beck, and asks why CNN employs him.
We’ll suggest a second question, one we’ve been asking all along: Crackpots like
Beck have been shaping the discourse back (at least) to 1992. They accused both
Clintons of a long string of murders—and many voters didn’t know this was
madness. They said the Clintons placed obscene Christmas ornaments on the White House Christmas tree. By the late 90s, they were playing along with the
mainstream press corps, reciting those lies about Gore.

Our question: Fifteen years later, why does it fall to Digby to ask about the
role they play in our discourse? Why have our liberal leaders stayed silent
about this insult to the national interest for all these endlessly insulting
years? Why was it OK to go on Hardball and call the first lady a murderer? (And of course, a big lesbo.) Why was it completely OK to repeat all those lies about Gore?

Your “liberal journals” sat and stared during fifteen years of this consummate
garbage. At the very top of the “mainstream press corps,” so did your most
famous “liberal” columnists. (Obvious exception: Paul Krugman.) Beck has now
made his latest brain-jangling statement. Our question: Fifteen years later,
tell us why it falls to people on the web to notice? MORE AT: http://www.dailyhowler.com/dh102307.shtml

I'M AS MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GONNA TAKE IT

I'M AS MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE!

I don't know about you, but I am tired of sitting still like some sacrificial lamb while the POWERS TO BE stomp our faces down deeper into the mud. Like film hero Howard Beale, we middle-class Americans are starting to scream, "I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not gonna to take it anymore!" It's time for all of us to stop listening to the lies and propaganda spread, by the likes of Fox Noise and the Limbaughs. We're all in this together so let's wise the hell up and fight back before we become too financially frail to do so. (Now, if I only had a plan!) Oh, here's an idea, no more shop till you drop, like Bush urged us to do after 9/11. No more luxury items, touted as a way to happiness by the Corporate World and No more "Shopping is Patriotic" Rovian symbolism. Eyes wide open and purses closed, will make the biggest impact on our leaders, rendering them impotent to the point where they can do nothing else but LISTEN to our pleas, our demands! WHAT A TOOL WE POSSESS AND DO NOT USE. It's a mind-boggler! thinkingblue

American Middle-Class Rage Over Bush Economic, Spending Priorities

Yesterday, as I paid $3.39 per gallon for gas, I wondered why economic
pressures on middle-class Americans haven't caught fire as an important issue
for the 2008 presidential primary races.

Financial pressures on wage-earning Americans are earth-shattering in Fall
2007. Witness recent stories by Kimberly Amadeo, About.com's Guide to the U.S.
Economy:

  • Employment Situation Gradually Worsening - "... year-over-year
employment was up only 1.2%. This is the weakest year-over-year job growth
since 2004, indicating a steadily declining trend since January 2006."

Credit Card Debt Up 8% from Last Year - "The declining housing market
has caused many families to switch from home equity loans to credit cards to
    finance purchases."

How Bad Is the Current Housing Market Decline?
    - "Resale single-family
home sales peaked in February 2007, when they were at an annual rate of 5.88
million... If price declines follow sales declines, it could cause a
recession. If it gets bad enough, it would compare to the 24% decline
experienced during the Great Depression of 1929."

Understanding today's complex economy almost requires a comprehensive
M.B.A. education. But Americans fully understand the problems they and their
families experience on a daily basis:

  • The astronomical price of gas
  • The rising cost of groceries, in part due to transportation costs
  • Falling values of their homes, often their largest investment
  • Employment instability and under-employment
  • Almost 50 million Americans with no health insurance
  • A faltering U.S. education system
  • The astronomical cost of a college education, making it impossible for
    millions of deserving students
  • Evaporation of hard-earned pensions

I contend that the U.S. electorate is extremely angry over the strangling
pressures placed on their lives when the Bush administration, fully abetted by
Congress, enacts false and even immoral economic and spending priorities, such
as :

Now spending $271 million daily in Iraq. (Yes, daily!!!)

Refusing to budget $35 billion over 5 years to bring basic health care to uninsured children,
yet spent $43.5 billion last year on elaborate, high-tech overseas spying.

Losing millions of middle-class wage jobs to other countries, under the banner of free trade. And yet the White House and Congress keep forging more such agreements.

And so much more...

The 2008 presidential primary season is winding down over the next few
months, and by February 6, 2008, we'll know the Democratic and Republican
nominees for the 2008 race for the White House. And then, I believe that
middle-class economic issues will quickly rise in importance in presidential
and Congressional election campaigns.

As I did with my new article, Pros & Cons of Free Trade Agreements, over the next year leading up to November 4, 2008, I will help you grasp the essential politics of the financial crises touching American homes.

Some derisively dub liberal anger over the spending priorities of the federal government as Democratic populism.

I call it good common sense, and taking care of my family while watching after my neighbor. I call that good ethics. And in my family's faith, we call that good Christian values in action.

AND THE WINNER IS... IRAQ WAR!

Iraq named "War of the Year"!

Mark Morford, one of the best satirical journalists weighs in on the BEST OF 07, naming IRAQ, winner of BEST WAR OF 2007. The relentless passing of time, has no effects on this war,. Each year it enters History's Hall of Shame, without end as long as Bush/Cheney are at the helm. It's so agonizingly painful that Morford's column this time in '08 will read again,

Iraq named "War of the Year"! Bloody nation cheers 5th straight title. Bush will be speechlost and VP Dick Cheney, will utter "On behalf of myself and my boss who will both go down in history as two of the most insipid and deleterious world leaders you will ever have the displeasure of miserably recalling all your sad and pathetic days,"
The many years of this calamitous, tragic war have been augural, each year’s outcome predictable, no crystal ball needed. And no matter how WE THE PEOPLE bang our heads against the wall to end it, all we come up with, is a collective BUMP on our anguished heads. thinkingblue

Iraq named "War of the Year"! Bloody nation cheers 4th straight title. Afghanistan sulks. "I'm speechlost!" sniffled Bush
By Mark Morford, SF Gate Columnist

Wednesday, November 7, 2007

Hot on the heels of Time magazine naming the Apple iPhone "Invention of the Year" and just as many newspapers, blogs and TV programs prepare to unleash their various "Top 10" and "Best Of" lists for 2007, comes the news that you, your ravaged and saddened heart, and the
world at large have all just awarded George W. Bush's disastrous, embarrassing,
profoundly disgusting occupation of Iraq "War of the Year," for the fourth
consecutive year.

"On behalf of myself and my boss who will both go down in history as two of
the most insipid and deleterious world leaders you will ever have the
displeasure of miserably recalling all your sad and pathetic days, I can only
say, who the f- are you people and how did you get past security?" snarled Vice
President Dick Cheney, from the side of his mouth, appearing in a ragged black
bathrobe with little pink hand grenades stitched all over it, and carrying a
shotgun. "Get off my lawn!"

"It is high honor to be even nominated," said the clearly touched,
bullet-riddled and violently hemorrhaging nation of Iraq, upon barely hearing
the news over the sounds of raging gunfire and explosions and all the screaming.

"To win once more, to now officially take place among most unnecessary, vile
and costly wars of all time, to permanently etch name of our tiny, underwhelming
nation into mind and heart and history of most powerful country in world despite
how most people on planet could not find Iraq on map prior to Bush reign of
idiocy, is honor not even Saddam himself could have ever dreamed," it added,
lifting what's left of its one shredded arm to wipe a tear from its one
remaining, half-blind eye, before fainting completely from the loss of blood.

Iraq's win, long considered the overwhelming choice to voters, came as no
surprise to at least a few U.S. states. "One word: rigged," sneered
California, alleged to be reeking with unpatriotic anti-American disgust from
all the hippies and the tofu and the George Clooney.

"Sure, watch me throw upwards of a trillion of everyone else's dollars, along
with thousands of young American lives, at a ragtag nation with no discernible
military, and then let me rape the Constitution, kill habeas corpus, mock the
United Nations, torture and maim and spread false fear like a disease, and I'll
win a little award too," it huffed, before lighting up a big doobie and sulking
off to sit on the beach to watch bits of plastic wash ashore from the
Great Pacific Garbage Patch.

Even Texas, busy lethally injecting prison inmates and shooting up the place
and dressing like it was prom night in 1989 and using so much goddamn hairspray
it makes the ozone wince, was less than complimentary. "Sumthin' ain't right
'bout this," muttered the lumbering, overfed state, between inhaling entire
buckets of deep-fried mozzarella cheese poppers and belching the fight song of a
local college football team.

"Oil prices is skyrockin' and it's costin' me over 100 buckaroos just to fill
the Expedition to drive to Taco Bell! I mean, come on, George! Stick a big, fat
oil pipe into Baghdad, aim it at our U.S. oil refineries, press the 'Suck'
button, and let's git the hell outta there!"

Finally reached for comment in his secret purple bathtub at his ranch in
Crawford, Texas, President Bush appeared to be so flabbergasted by the news of
Iraq's win that he actually stopped pushing all the small plastic submarines
around the water and making motorboat sounds for a full minute, so he could
gather his thoughts to try and speak.

"I been tryin' so hard, you know? (Sniffle.) I just ... I just always
believed we could do it! Dick and Turd Blossom told me if we just lied
about WMD and killed tons of people, God would see fit to write our names in the
Big Book of History! And it worked! You hear that, daddy? War of the Year! Will
you love me now?"

Not everyone was so upbeat. Upon hearing of yet another Iraq victory,
Afghanistan was, perhaps understandably, less than enthusiastic. "What a f-ing
sham," sighed Mullah Omar of Kandahar. "Iraq has nothing! No WMD! No nuke
program! Not as much easy oil as you think! Stupid tribal wars lasting forever
and ever! Saddam big fat joke! You dump $600 billion so far and this is what you
have to show? Sham, I say!

"Who has the real terrorists? Who has a
resurgent Taliban, raping women and beating kittens and
repressing all life and once again controlling the poppy production to make
yummy opium to sell to secretly gay U.S. Republican senators and megachurch
pastors at big discount? Who still has Osama bin Laden stored in bombed-out
Hyatt Regency parking garage in downtown Kabul? Afghanistan, that's who! What, I
say too much? Do not care! Iraq win a sham! Afghanistan is war of century!"
he screamed, waving his American-made rifle in the air. "Also: iPhone rules!"

Despite the general negative reaction, nothing could disguise the obvious
glee on the fat, pockmarked face of the parent of the Iraq War, the War on
Terror, who was once again breaking out the Champagne and killing innocent
civilians and torturing your intelligence and murdering all hope and tapping
your phone line and confiscating your water bottle at the airport in
celebration.

"I knew it! I knew my little baby had the goods! Who's the
stupid bitch now, hmm, California? Who's the illegal violation of international
U.N. treaty now, pacifist bitches? Eat my rotten Geneva Convention, France! War
of the Year! Yes! What's that you say? Half a million dead in the 'Darfur conflict'? So
what? Now, if they had some oil, maybe they'd be a competitor!"

However, while four consecutive "War of the Year" wins might seem impressive,
it's still a far cry from the all-time record.

"Goddamn whippersnappers today, don't know a real war from a hole in the
head!" muttered the cranky, thoroughly insane, wildly costly War on Drugs,
winner of the prize, off and on, a whopping 23 times since President Nixon
announced it in 1969.

"You want a war? I'll show you a goddamn war. I've seriously drained the
economies of a dozen major nations, ruined hundreds of thousands of lives and
packed American prisons to overflowing largely over bulls-
marijuana laws and three-strikes crapola.

"I deform cultures, misguide societies, regurgitate bogus propaganda by way
of everything from federal health departments to alarmist news programs to
dishonest school textbooks. I drip with brutal irony and hypocrisy in a hundred
different ways, cause serious pants-wetting in nearly every politician on the
planet, not a single one of whom has the balls to stand up to me and publicly
acknowledge what a total failure I am. I've cost America alone untold
billions over the years.

"And guess what? I'm still going strong! Still leeching from the tax base and
destroying lives and making mockery of reason and humanity. Ha! War on Iraq, my
bong-loving ass! The War on Drugs shoots a speedball of cocaine/heroin directly
into my eyeball in mockery! Now get the hell out of here. I need an Ambien and a
nap."

Meanwhile, upstart contenders for the highly sought-after prize appeared to
be merely biding their time. "We're aiming for 2008, maybe 2009," said one fiery
competitor. "It's just a matter of how many troops and how many billions you
silly Americans are insane enough to throw at us."

"'War of the Year' shall be ours very soon!" screamed a clearly overexcited
Iran.

pokkets217 I learned from Bush that I should see politics a new light. That in this new light recorded history should be reconsidered. Looking for evidence, and testimony, that was not considered in the official line. That what is said to be history, is contradictory, as there is a disparity between it and events and consequences today. Bush is the Final straw on a Camel's back that has long been overloaded

There's one more lesson learned from Bush.

10. Extorting taxes to pay for an Illegal, Totally Unnecessary War waged by Bush himself... is A-OK

And to those 24 percent-ers who still approve of Bush. Would you please put your head back under the rock or that other place you keep pulling your head out of. We are tired of you telling us it's YOUR AMERICA and for anyone who disagrees with you... to get the F**k out!!! (I actually had a nephew tell me this) If you desire totalitarianism or despotism so much, you leave... just pack YOUR bags and go to Pakistan where dissenters are attacked and beaten by the State! Pakistan police attack protesters

Police have used tear gas and baton charges to break up demonstrations by Pakistani lawyers against the country's state of emergency.

Lawyers said many colleagues were arrested as protests were dispersed in Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi.

The Islamic party Jamaat-e-Islami was also targeted, saying hundreds of its members were arrested overnight.

President Pervez Musharraf declared the emergency on Saturday, saying he was acting to curb extremism.

Critics, however, believe General Musharraf was acting to pre-empt a judgment by
the Supreme Court on whether his re-election last month was legal.

'Merciless' attack

In Lahore an estimated 2,000 people congregated to stage a rally, but several
were reported wounded when police waded in.

"Police lobbed more than a dozen tear gas shells at lawyers who had gathered in
the High Court and then beat them with batons," Sheikh Faisal, a lawyer at the
court, told the AFP news agency by telephone.

In Karachi police blocked off routes to the home of provincial Chief Justice
Sabihuddin Ahmed, where protesting lawyers and judges had planned to gather
before heading to the High Court.

He told the BBC he had not been formally put under house arrest, "but when I
started for my office, they told me I couldn't leave my house".

When lawyers arrived at the court and started chanting anti-Musharraf slogans,
police moved in, swinging batons and dragging protesters into police vans, says
the BBC's Ilyas Khan in Karachi.

EMERGENCY RESTRICTIONS

Constitutional safeguards on life and liberty curtailed

Police get wide powers of arrest
Suspects can be denied access to lawyers
Freedom of movement restricted
Private TV stations taken off air
New rules curtail media coverage of suicide bombings or militant activity
Chief justice replaced, others made to swear oath of loyalty
Supreme Court banned from rescinding emergency order

Police also "mercilessly beat" half a dozen lawyers who were chanting
anti-government slogans at a court in the city of Rawalpindi, lawyer Mudassir
Saeed told AFP.

Lawyers' associations across the country said they were calling three days of protests and boycotts of courts.

Media reports, citing police and interior ministry sources, said around 1,500 people had been arrested in the last 48 hours, while many top judges were effectively under house arrest.

Responding to reports of the crackdown on Jamaat-e-Islami, Information Minister Tariq Azim described the claim of hundreds of detentions as an exaggeration.

He told the BBC that it was up to protesters to remain calm, or deal with the consequences.

"If people take law into their [own] hands, obviously, they have to be dealt with," he told The World Today.

Pakistani TV news channels, which have huge audiences, are being prevented from
broadcasting within the country, and at least one newspaper press was raided by police.
Among the rumours swirling during the broadcasting blackout was one that
President Musharraf himself had been put under house arrest by subordinates, but
this was strenuously denied by the government.

Concern abroad

The US has suspended defence co-operation talks with Pakistan set for this week,
and says it will review its multi-billion dollar aid programme.

Top US officials have acknowledged Pakistan's key role as an ally in the "war on terror".

But Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said it was imperative for Pakistan "to
quickly return to a constitutional path and then to hold elections".

She urged Gen Musharraf to "take off his uniform" and return to civilian rule.
Mr Azim said the issue of whether Gen Musharraf would step down as army chief
was now "in limbo".

The UK, another major donor, says it is examining whether the emergency will affect its aid to Pakistan.

A spokesman for Prime Minister Gordon Brown urged Pakistan to restore "normal
democratic and constitutional processes".

The Pakistani government has suggested parliamentary polls scheduled for January
could be delayed by up to a year.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said the emergency would last for "as long as is necessary".

'Decisive' opposition

Gen Musharraf said he declared the emergency to stop Pakistan "committing suicide", because the country was in a crisis caused by militant violence and an unruly judiciary.

Fears had been growing in the government that the Supreme Court could rule
against Gen Musharraf over his eligibility to run for re-election.

Benazir Bhutto, a political rival who has been in power-sharing talks with the
president, told US TV channel ABC News that many people believed the emergency
was aimed at "stopping a court verdict that was coming against him".

Ms Bhutto was due to hold talks with a close aide of Gen Musharraf later on Monday.

The sacked chief justice, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, said Gen Musharraf's
maneuver was "illegal, unconstitutional and against the orders of the Supreme
Court".
