A MIND IS A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE

My daughter just returned from a Florida family visit. On her way home she noticed a giant billboard with words in large bold letters which expressed: EVOLUTION - AN ADULT FAIRYTALE! She didn't have a camera with her so she couldn't capture a photo of such foolishness.

I tried to search the web for a picture, because I was sure a thinking minded person with a camera had probably passed this sign and got a photo, to no avail. Today, my daughter found this website... no doubt some of the purchasing contributors of that giant "EVOLUTION - AN ADULT FAIRYTALE" sign. Please click on the following links:

I just had to comment on this silly website: click on this link to see my response:

Thanks, THINKING BLUE
PS: With all the horrible things going on in this world... you would think these people could find something better to do with their time than try to debunk science... GOOD GRIEF, NO WONDER THIS WORLD IS GOING MAD!

I will be posting this on my blog:

Below is my response:

I would like to comment on your website: My first reaction and thought upon viewing your page was, “How sad for these people, who are afraid of reality and facts, and what great lengths they are willing to go, to bring other frightened minds into their fold” Your inability to perceive with the eyes of intellect is so heart rendering that I have decided to maybe inform you about exactly what you are trying to hide from. But first you must take your head/mind out of the sand long enough to allow this information to penetrate. Now, let’s take the actual meaning of the words and phrases used in Science, such as:
Scientific Laws, Hypotheses, and Theories
Here is what each of these terms means to a scientist:

Scientific Law: This is a statement of fact meant to explain, in concise terms, an action or set of actions. It is generally accepted to be true and universal, and can sometimes be expressed in terms of a single mathematical equation. Scientific laws are similar to mathematical postulates. They don’t really need any complex external proofs; they are accepted at face value based upon the fact that they have always been observed to be true.
Some scientific laws, or laws of nature, include the law of gravity, the law of thermodynamics, and Hook’s law of elasticity.
Hypothesis: This is an educated guess based upon observation. It is a rational explanation of a single event or phenomenon based upon what is observed, but which has not been proved. Most hypotheses can be supported or refuted by experimentation or continued observation.
Theory: A theory is more like a scientific law than a hypothesis. A theory is an explanation of a set of related observations or events based upon proven hypotheses and verified multiple times by detached groups of researchers. One scientist cannot create a theory; he can only create a hypothesis.
In general, both a scientific theory and a scientific law are accepted to be true by the scientific community as a whole. Both are used to make predictions of events. Both are used to advance technology.
The biggest difference between a law and a theory is that a theory is much more complex and dynamic. A law governs a single action, whereas a theory explains a whole series of related phenomena. These definitions came from this website: http://wilstar.com/theories.htm

Here is a good website if you wish to keep your heads/minds out of the sand, long enough to gather some basic information-
Understanding Evolution - http://evolution.berkeley.edu/
If you are also planning to dismiss these other theories please go to the next few websites before you put your heads back in the sand.
General Theory of Relativity -
http://archive.ncsa.uiuc.edu/Cyberia/NumRel/GenRelativity.html
Theory of Gravity - http://www.allanstime.com/UnifiedFieldTheory/gravity.htm
And a couple of quotes from some noted scientists…

"All our science, measured against reality, is primitive and childlike -
and yet it is the most precious thing we have."
Albert Einstein

"He preferred the hard truth to his dearest illusions, and that is the heart of science."
Carl Sagan on Johannes Kepler in "Cosmos"

Other Branches of Science you may also wish to dismiss.
Anthropology Psychology Sociobiology

Don’t forget Chemistry - The science of the composition, structure, properties, and reactions of matter, especially of atomic and molecular systems.
Oh yes and Engineering - The application of scientific and mathematical principles to practical ends such as the design, manufacture, and operation of efficient and economical structures, machines, processes, and systems.

After going to this site http://echo.gmu.edu/center.php you may then return your heads/minds to the sand. But just try to realize that a Supreme Being would not expect an intelligent mind to stagnate. Thank you, ThinkingBlue http://thinkingblue.blogspot.com/

A MIND IS A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE:

Tears fall for all the suffering people of this world; disregarded by the ignorant and selfish who perpetuate their misery by refusing to acknowledge it.
