911 Centers Outdated Technology Can't Always Locate Callers Ending in Death

911 Centers Outdated Technology Can't Always Locate Callers - Ending in Death

We have a real infrastructure vulnerability that many of us are not aware of… It’s a common belief that a 911 emergency call is infallible but now we find out, it is anything but, when your life depends upon it. A 911 cell phone call can’t always identify your location when minutes matter. How very cruel for a victim (and their loved ones) to hope there will be a rescue and then suffer the unbearable moments waiting, before they die. I have a friend whose niece experienced this and lost her life. When it hits your own existence, it becomes a grievous reality and not just something, that happens to other people. What a reprehensible failure for our democracy, a warning message should have been blasting its way across media outlets that you can’t always trust your 911 mobile calls; perhaps if victims had known this; they would have exhausted other means to save themselves.

Buyer Beware - Medical News We Should All "Be Aware" Of

This is medical news that should be of importance to every one of us. You can pick up a deadly bacterium just by sitting in a chair or touching a counter in your doctor or dentist office. (Or any kind of medical facility that you are counseled or examined in). We had a family member die after a dentist visit for a cracked wisdom tooth. When the dentist was finished extracting 10 teeth and prescribing antibiotics by the truckload, our cousin contracted C-Diff. The D-Diff caused unbearable diarrhea for many months until her death. What a horrible way to die, especially when it should never have happened. I guess this is what you would call a classic case of medical BUYER BEWARE.

Bill O'Reilly Claims His War Stories Were Not Embellished- Ya Wanna Bet?

Of course, he would make such claims, he has lied and distorted his stories so abundantly over the years, he, himself believes them. ‘Tis a pity, that NBC saw fit to punish Brian Williams for exaggerating a story he was covering and someone like Big Blowhard Bill, who is the personification of mendacity, gets rewarded for his acts of dishonesty.
We do not live in a fair world, this is obvious when a news outlet like Fox hires a lying egomaniac like Bill-O to be their anchor and then acts as though they are fair & balanced. thinkingblue
Published on Feb 20, 2015
"After NBC News suspended anchor Brian Williams for erroneously claiming that he was nearly shot down in a helicopter while covering the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, Fox News host Bill O'Reilly went on a tear. On his television show, the top-rated cable news anchor declared that the American press isn't "half as responsible as the men who forged the nation." He bemoaned the supposed culture of deception within the liberal media, and he proclaimed that the Williams controversy should prompt questioning of other "distortions" by left-leaning outlets. Yet for years, O'Reilly has recounted dramatic stories about his own war reporting that don't withstand scrutiny—even claiming he acted heroically in a war zone that he apparently never set foot in.

O'Reilly has repeatedly told his audience that he was a war correspondent during the Falklands war and that he experienced combat during that 1982 conflict between the United Kingdom* and Argentina. He has often invoked this experience to emphasize that he understands war as only someone who has witnessed it could. As he once put it, "I've been there. That's really what separates me from most of these other bloviators. I bloviate, but I bloviate about stuff I've seen. They bloviate about stuff that they haven't."

Fox News and O'Reilly did not respond to multiple requests for comment.*

Walmart Family Is the Unsurpassed Winner of the Gluttony Award

Walmart family worth 144.6 Billion Dollars is unsurpassed, the Greediest Human Beings to exist amongst us... How do these people live with themselves, is the 64 million dollar (chump change) question. I know, they rationalize like the other rich republicans and believe they’re the creators of jobs, thus are American heroes. It doesn't matter to them that they are responsible for the new income category called WORKING POOR. Hey, let’s not mince words here… they are Greedy Bastards and I believe deep down inside of their covetous brains...THEY KNOW IT. thinkingblue

Why do the Religious Right vote for those who have the power to keep them stupid?
OK they are not ALL stupid but since the smart ones remain silent and let the STUPID ones speak for them, they’re ALL considered stupid.

President Obama Dared To Compare ISIS To Christian Crusaders

Religion and War
EXCERPT From abcnews.go.com: "After President Obama’s remarks comparing ISIS militants to medieval Christian crusaders ignited a firestorm of criticism on Thursday, ABC News wanted to know: how accurate is that comparison?"
~~~
The articles I've posted claim that religion is not used very often as a cause for war and that President Obama was wrong to use The Crusades as a comparison to the ISIS terrorist attacks... I say to that, (using a statement Hillary Clinton made during the Republican Benghazi Smear Campaign against her)...
“WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE?”
WAR and Territorial Disputes, are scourges on the human condition, we should have evolved long ago a desire for peace over war and use our intelligence to resolve differences with the objective use of words and understanding, instead of bombs and weapons that cause great suffering upon our own species.
It appears that Education, Facts or Reality (even Religion) cannot stop people from hurling that proverbial first stone at those they believe are evil and NOT A BIT like themselves, who must fight for what’s (delusionary) good for (only their own) humankind?
If We Do Not End War - War Will End Us.
Excerpt from abcnews.go.com: The Crusades, which began in 1095 with the call of Pope Urban II to recover Jerusalem from Muslim rule, were a series of wars that lasted nearly two centuries. Although no reliable estimate of casualties caused by Crusaders exists, the massacre of over 2,700 Muslim prisoners by Richard the Lionheart outside Acre during the Third Crusade has been well documented and is remembered in the Middle East to this day. Let's go back in time when George W Bush used the Crusades as the same comparison.
Interesting opinion on using Religion as a cause for war. tb
Excerpt:  When I hear someone state that religion has caused most wars, though, I will often and ask the person to name these wars. The response is typically, "Come on! The Crusades, The Inquisition, Northern Ireland, the Middle East, 9/11. Need I name more?"
 Well, yes, we do need to name more, because while clearly there were wars that had religion as the prime cause, an objective look at history reveals that those killed in the name of religion have, in fact, been a tiny fraction in the bloody history of human conflict. In their recently published book, "Encyclopedia of Wars," authors Charles Phillips and Alan Axelrod document the history of recorded warfare, and from their list of 1763 wars only 123 have been classified to involve a religious cause, accounting for less than 7 percent of all wars and less than 2 percent of all people killed in warfare. While, for example, it is estimated that approximately one to three million people were tragically killed in the Crusades, and perhaps 3,000 in the Inquisition, nearly 35 million soldiers and civilians died in the senseless, and secular, slaughter of World War 1 alone.
History simply does not support the hypothesis that religion is the major cause of conflict. The wars of the ancient world were rarely, if ever, based on religion.
Are Atheist Parents Doing A Better Job?
Excerpt: "So how does the raising of upstanding, moral children work without prayers at mealtimes and morality lessons at Sunday school? Quite well, it seems.
Far from being dysfunctional, nihilistic and rudderless without the security and rectitude of religion, secular households provide a sound and solid foundation for children, according to Vern Bengston, a USC professor of gerontology and sociology."
Bengston has supervised a 40-year study of religion and family life across generations—the largest ever coordinated—called the Longitudinal Study of Generations. He recently added atheist or agnostic families to the mix alongside the rise in their self-reported numbers. And rather than discovering families unbound by the glue of God, performing nightly Satanic rituals in lieu of a nutritious dinner, he found… functional families with actual ethics and values and shit.
"Many nonreligious parents were more coherent and passionate about their ethical principles than some of the 'religious' parents in our study," Bengston told me. "The vast majority appeared to live goal-filled lives characterized by moral direction and sense of life having a purpose."
I didn’t raise/rear my kids to be non-believers… not in actuality with intent. Whenever the topic of god or religion was expressed, I would tell them my agnostic view (I was still not sure about the label Atheist)…AGNOSTIC: a person who believes that nothing is known or can be known of the existence or nature of God or of anything beyond material phenomena; a person who claims neither faith nor disbelief in God.
In essence, I would say, that we human beings do not know why we are here or what the physical nature of all things is about and probably we will never know. However, I would emphasize the importance of having empathy for others because we are all in the same boat and that evolution was real. I also expressed that religion was OK for some and if they wanted to take that route that would be equally OK.
Wow, I’ve come a long way from those ideas, I now believe religion can hurt more than it can comfort. But, that’s me.
Anyway, I’m glad that none of my kids took to religion because now I can have freethinking discussions with them instead of feeling the need to walk on eggshells whenever conversation turned to gods, guns, gays and religions. thinkingblue
EXCERPT 2: The reason of course, is obvious. Morality comes not from a book, or a guy up in the sky, but from the idea that how you treat people matters, because how people feel matters. The Golden Rule. Doing unto others as you would have them do unto you, is, Zuckerman writes, "an ancient, universal ethical imperative. And it requires no supernatural beliefs."
I would like to take this time to say directly to the small town I grew up in and its endless youth groups and Bible studies and Baptist churches and even grosser fundamentalist Church of Christ churches, and all the prayers before games, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the fear-mongering attitudes and pervy youth group leaders and gross, self-righteous, hypocritical, sexist, homophobic, racist, shallow, anti-intellectual, anti-questioning, anti-books, anti-music, anti-art, utter crass consumerism in place of actual Christian-ness: FACE. Big, stupid FACE in your FACE.
But that petty jab aside, seriously: I'm not one of those people who think anyone who is religious is dumb, or narrow-minded, or any such thing. Mad props. Even kinda jealz. I'd love for God to be something I could catch. It'd be like how I am with football: If only I could like it, I'm sure I would if nothing else have way more friends.
I'm not even someone who even had that bad an experience with religion, all considered, mainly because I was never forced into it. I just grew up in the over-saturated South, and for every truly genuine, kind, accepting person who drew on strength from God to do good in this world (I almost exclusively grew up with Baptists and Church of Christ nutjobs) that I ever met, there were easily a hundred who used it as a shield to judge and shun everything that didn't look like them, which was usually a white guy in a button-down oxford, Dockers, and a piece of UT football insignia somewhere. Who got shitfaced on the weekends. And was a racist. But who was somehow, inexplicably, considered a "good person" from a "good family." (I came from a broken home, and didn't go to church, and this was all you needed to know.)
Small-town Southern religiousness can take so many hideous forms, but the worst is this Upstanding Good Citizen who attends church and gets a free pass to be a terrible terrible bigot. Belief was assumed of everyone, too, and not believing was something you kept to yourself, and the accusation of witchcraft and Satanism were real things that happened to people I actually knew, and involved visits from law enforcement. (There was also a rash of suicides one summer that fueled the suspicions of Satanism even more.)
Once, in eighth grade, I researched and read about religions and went to different churches to find out more about this God thing. I told a youth group leader at one denomination known for being more laid back that I was genuinely unsure what I believed, but was interested in learning more. "Well, now, if you don't believe, there's only one thing that can mean," he said. "You're going to hell."
The Spreading of Bigotry and Hate Via Facebook
I saw this little composition (below image) on Facebook today and at first, I thought it an honoring of someone who valiantly saved lives during his tour in Viet Nam. Upon a second look, however, it emerged as the same ole, same ole hate propaganda that Republicans use to spread their political animosity.
We sure live in a pathetic world where Too Many can't see beyond their prejudice, especially when there are those (Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Tea Party politicians and Nasty Rightwing Forwards) that stoke the flames to ensure their message of hate stays FRONT AND CENTER. thinkingblue
PS: Below is my comment on this banality.
How sad, a person decides to write a story (that could be a worthwhile read but turns contemptible) commemorating a human being who was thrust into an outrageous war, perpetrated by the powers that be. Making sure he (the writer) hits upon the great suffering of a “war hero”, who disregarded his own safety, to save his fellow comrades and then the writer (No doubt a Republican who glorifies war and nationalism while marginalizing a people who do not deserve his disdain) decides to turn his tale into political bigotry. Did I say SAD, no beyond sad, it’s outright spiteful and vicious! The sadness comes in when this story is shared by those who wish to spread their racism in order to create more hate towards those they believe worthless…
Shame on you (whoever wrote the forwarded story) for using Ed Freeman's story in order to manipulate people into passing on a dishonest, useless anti-American media chain. I hate a great deal of what the media spews out too, but I'm certainly not gullible enough to believe in far-right chain letters too, especially when they're full of errors that could be simply mistakes and are more likely deliberate lies.
Chain forwards play on the emotions of conservatives, patriots and Christians in particular, and the whining about the media at the end of the forward has nothing to do with Ed Freeman at all, but is just there as an extra manipulation to get people thinking Ed Freeman hasn't been honored nearly enough and that the way to honor him is to pass on chain letters. Bull!
