I THANK YOU!

Noah's Ark, A Story With Dire Consequences,

But not for Noah!
G.W. Foote lived in the mid 1800's and died in 1915. Even though this was modern times, he still, received persecution for his freethinking. Below is a cartoon that appeared in his Freethinker magazine in 1882. It was one of several used against him that led to his prosecution for Blasphemy.
Thank goodness, for the few human beings who are willing to risk physical harm to deliver, as best they can through science, an objective reality by dissecting the fairy stories of antiquity. To the GOP, Tea Party and right-wing religious, your days of believing Myths to be accurate accounts of history, are numbered. Live with it!

Dead On A Dead Planet

7,000,000 dead in one year's time!
I can hear the GOP Tea Party leaders and their Koch Brother backers, roar with laughter, reading this article, 'Air pollution linked to seven million deaths globally' “What a silly and pointless report.” They would bellow. “Who cares, it’s on the other side of the globe and affects mostly lowlife types whose only reason for living is as cheap labor for the Walton Family and the rest of the world plutocrats.”
What the opinionated and gluttonous 1%, for some odd reason, do not seem to understand is… brutally abusing Earth, the only place where life, so far, is found, will eventually render their wealth useless in protecting them against having NO AIR to breathe. (Hey, you can’t make or spend money when you’re dead on a dead planet!)

SCOTUS To Hear Religious Case

And America May Be Singing "Hello Darkness My Old Friend".
Here we go again, back to the dark ages!
If SCOTUS rules in favor of religious control over the laws that we must live under... The long period we called separation of church and state will end and back we go to living under the dictates of a religious clergy. Bye, Bye Science, Bye, Bye Common Sense, Hello superstitions presented as facts, Hello cruel and unusual punishment. Let us hope that the educated men and women on the Supreme Court will use their objective minds and not whatever dogma piques their fancy, to guide them in a decision that could negatively affect us all, no matter what belief system we follow. thinkingblue

Excerpt: “What I am suggesting is we create and support a system where political decisions are made based on arguments that stand on their own merits without a religious crutch.  Or, to put it another way, “the Bible tells me so” is off limits as an argument.  But that doesn’t mean what you’re arguing for will have to change.  All it means is people need to use objective, measurable evidence to defend their arguments, instead of just referring to their faith (or bible) and leaving it at that.”

New Rules Published on Mar 14, 2014 - On Friday evening, Bill Maher's "New Rules" segment concluded with a lengthy tirade against the arbitrary rules and customs set forth in the Bible, as well as some of the more unbelievable details religious folks still believe to be literally true. Maher began the monologue by declaring that America is "stupid" because 60 percent of the country reportedly believes the tale of Noah's ark is literally true. He went on to slam the film Noah as "floating giraffe crap," but said it "must be doing something right" since it's been condemned by both Muslims and Christians. And the fact that it might lose a lot of studio money, he joked, "may put it in hot water with the Jews too."

That gave way to a rant on how the world is now four centuries removed from the scientific revolution, and yet we still find the Noah's ark story to be entirely true, despite some of the more... unbelievable... details. Christians are mad about the blockbuster film, he noted, because it doesn't take the Bible literally enough. "They're mad that this made-up story doesn't stay true to their made-up story," he quipped.

But, really, Maher said, Noah's tale is an "immoral" one because it's about a "psychotic mass murderer who gets away with it and his name is God." The Earth's creator became so irate that he had created mankind so flawed, as Maher related, that he sent a flood to kill everyone, including babies.

"What kind of tyrant kills everyone just to get back at the few he's mad at? I mean, besides Chris Christie," he jabbed.

"Isn't life hard enough without making shit up out of thin air to fuck with yourself?" he later asked of religion's arbitrary rules about food, clothing, and other material goods.

FYI: As I have noted before in this blog
After an egg is released, it has about a day to find a sperm to fertilize it. Sperm survive several days before losing their ability to join with an egg. But the union of egg and sperm is merely the first step: if a fertilized egg does not burrow into the lining of the uterus, there is no pregnancy. In fact, in an estimated 50 percent to as many as 80 percent of conceptions the fertilized egg fails to implant.

Science Deniers Beware

Neil deGrasse Tyson is here.
I wish I knew what was/is wrong with those who refuse to accept the findings of science. It appears they hate objective reality and cannot stand what their own senses (brains) tell them; instead relying on ancient books written by ancient writers’ who interpreted how we homo-sapiens came into being, (who didn't know at the time that we were dubbed homo-sapiens, -- Humans received the species name, Homo sapiens, meaning "wise man," in 1758. But, given our short-sighted behavior, that name needs to be changed, one writer proposes.) with the use of elaborate human imagination (which had evolved over the eons with natural selection). Good grief, I don’t possess even an ounce worth of the sophisticated knowledge that science has proven with labored scientific study, yet there is no way I could look to an old worn-out, filled with fantasy, doctrine for the answers our potent intelligence, hungers for.  The power of fear can be the only reason for the acceptance of hogwash as truth, now if only those science deniers could learn that “there’s nothing to fear but fear itself” life could become a fascinating journey for them as well. thinkingblue

St Patrick's Day Exclusion

Why must organized religion take the joy out of so many human endeavors? A large number of us recognize that we are all one, yet those who are in charge and run religions refuse to observe this, preaching ostracization, of those they deem sinners. I wish people would tell the church (people), when they are wrong and this time they truly are WRONG! thinkingblue

How To Keep The Poor, Poor!

War on Women Continues...all the way to the Supreme Court!
Reading
the article will make your head spin. That is if your head happens to be, filled with common sense and not religious dogma. The anti-abortion protagonists want a fertilized egg to adhere to the uterus lining (against all odds) even though 50% to 80% of fertilized eggs never implant and are naturally aborted... (without any outside influence WHATSOEVER!)
Christopher Hitchens hit the nail on the proverbial head when he realized what these anti-common sense folks are doing and that is… KEEPING THE POOR, POOR! thinkingblue
The Obama healthcare law, known as the Affordable Care Act, requires coverage of "contraceptive methods," but not drugs which cause an abortion - that is, end pregnancy.

Medical groups including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists as well as federal health agencies say pregnancy begins with implantation. That's what allows James Trussell of Princeton University, an expert on reproductive health, to say that emergency contraception "won't cause an abortion in the legal and medical sense of the word."

That infuriates people who believe life and pregnancy begin with fertilization. "There is a segment of the medical field that says there isn't a human life until the baby has implanted," said Dr Kathleen Raviele, an ob-gyn in Tucker, Georgia, and spokeswoman for the Catholic Medical Association. The group supports Hobby Lobby and Conestoga. "You have two groups talking past each other."

OUT WITH THE OLD IN WITH THE NEW- THE MILLENNIALS
This just in: A Virginia State Senator just called pregnant women "hosts." He said, ‘I'm not going to assume a right to kill it just because the child's host (some refer to them as mothers) doesn't want it."
And coming from the party who brought us “legitimate rape” and “binders full of women,” the GOP has proven once again that they’re just totally out of touch with women.
But this guy, Steve Martin, is only just saying what Republicans around the country think. That women are second class citizens who should not be responsible for managing their own body.
EMILY’s List wants to help more pro-choice Democratic women get elected to public office at all levels of government, from the Virginia State Senate, to the White House so women can be in charge of their own bodies and their health decisions. Add your name to join EMILY’s List and Daily Kos to help stop the GOP.

GOP/Fox News Nasty, On Poverty and Hunger!

Inquiring minds want to know... Who watches Fox News and their horrible pundits who make light of poor and hungry people? Who would vote for such ignorant and cruel leaders that are in agreement with them? Fox News is the Tip of the Iceberg; it's their viewers that are turning America ugly. thinkingblue

Ted Cruz, Addresses The Wackiest of Wacky Groups at CPAC

Insider Ted Cruz Embraces the Conservative Outcasts
This group of about 100, are the most delusional people that walk amongst us. From Birthers to Conspiracy theorists i.e. EMPact America (you know those people who refuse to see a fact for a fact and have to make up their own facts to satisfy their lack of real honest to goodness, knowledge) they were all there. Of course, Ted Cruz would stand in front of this frontal-lobe damaged group and spout out his own convoluted ‘rationalizations’,  to their loud thunderous applauds; that’s the fuel that guides this narcissistic psychopath through existence. Even CPAC believes these folks to be bat-sh*t nuts, freakin’ unbelievable! thinkingblue
The executive function of the frontal lobes involve the ability to recognize future consequences resulting from current actions, to choose between good and bad actions (or better and best), override and suppress socially unacceptable responses, and determine similarities and differences between things or events.

The frontal lobes also play an important part in retaining longer term memories which are not task-based. These are often memories associated with emotions derived from input from the brain's limbic system. The frontal lobe modifies those emotions to generally fit socially acceptable norms.

Paul Ryan Denigrating The Poor (Again) But In Sheep's Clothing!

He's hoping this time he will convince us that he really, truly means well and in the end his ideology of doing away with all safety-nets will help the poor get rich.

Republican Bigotry - Read All About It

Another Republican Rewards Bigotry

It Figures, Another Republican Rewards Bigotry.
The Big Questions:

WHY IS BIGOTRY TOLERATED?
WHY IS BIGOTRY PRAISED?
Once again, I'm blogging on how Republicans see fit to reward Bigotry. Just in the past week or so, we have seen a Republican running for Governor of Texas invite one of the ugliest supporter’s of bigotry, Ted Nugent, to campaign with him...
Now, we're being forced, to witness another Republican Governor give an award to a known bigot who uses GOD as a reason for his unapologetic racism and homophobia.
~~~~~~
I guess we Americans will never be able to escape our intolerant tendencies towards those who may look or act different from our own individual small-minded group, especially as long as there’s a Rush Limbaugh and a Fox News doing nothing but promoting bigotry. thinkingblue
