Driving An Automobile Will Damage Ovaries.

Don't have Ovaries then you're safe to drive.
We all know how oppressive men in Arab States are to women but here in America there are many on the far right-wing of the political spectrum who share the same medieval (primitive) notions about a woman’s freedom or lack thereof.  It took the females of our species thousands of years (most likely even further back to pre-pre-pre-historic times when life was still in a massive ocean) to achieve some of the same rights as males enjoy and still they have to fight on. But fight on they will because the battle is not just for themselves it pertains to all human beings. Unfortunately, it appears, there's a pathetic evolutionary trait still within the human animal’s brain connections, that certain groups, must be marginalized and because of this human "NATURE OF THE BEAST" somebody, some faction or class NEEDS, to be Tyrannized.
When Driving Affects Ovaries: A Call to Regulate Fatwas
Posted: 10/14/2013 8:44 am

It did not take long for those recent statements, which suggested that driving might negatively affect women's ovaries, for Saudi Shaikh Saleh Bin Saad al-Luhaydan to become the focus of news headlines around the world.

Al Arabiya English published an article on Saudi Shaikh Saleh Bin Saad al-Luhaydan's warning that driving can negatively affect women's ovaries. (Screengrabbed from Al Arabiya English)

There is no surprise that in an age where we are becoming more and more interconnected every day -- thanks to social media and modern technology -- each one of us may expect to become a celebrity overnight or be ridiculed on a global scale for something we may have intentionally or unintentionally said or done. While this applies to some extent to the average citizen, it goes without saying that this is certainly the case when it comes to public figures, officials or as in Shaikh al-Luhaydan's case, a renowned author and a well-known judicial and psychological consultant.

Sadly, many Muslim clerics have recently become a regular source of international mockery and there are even several websites dedicated to listing the wackiest fatwas (religious edicts) ever made. And even though al-Luhaydan has made it clear that he was making his statements from a scientific (rather than a religious) point of view, many western media outlets still mistakenly described what he said as a fatwa.

However, one cannot blame any western or even local journalist for such a mistake! Unfortunately, there have been so many ridiculous edicts in the past that anyone can be excused for believing that the Muslims actually think that driving may affect women's ovaries. After all, it was not long ago that a cleric in Saudi Arabia called for the head of Mickey Mouse after describing him as an "agent of Satan" and it was not long ago that an Egyptian sheikh issued a fatwa that a mixed working environment would only be "halal" after female staff members breast-feed their male colleagues!

Conditions for the issuance of fatwas

The list of astonishing edicts goes on to include prohibiting women from touching bananas, having sex (with their husbands, of course!) while being naked, plucking their eye-brows or wearing jeans.
Below is a pre-election video I had put together to give light to how harmful the Tea Party GOP would be to our country and our freedoms but since it’s Halloween and it’s Scary I am re-posting it today. Just in time for Halloween.WAR ON WOMBS

Richard Dawkins' Critical Thoughts To His 10 Year Old Daughter

You're never too young to learn how to Critically Think.
I truly believe Richard Dawkins is one of the most interesting people alive today. We should all celebrate his birth and the path, circumstance had bestowed upon him that taught and intensified his ability to Critically Think. I was sent this website by a friend and would like to share it with those who happen to come across my site. Hoping you will enjoy it as much as I did. thinkingblue

American Dream DOA

American Dream DOA
America has become a Nation of Hardship for many. The American Dream has morphed into a fairytale and those diehards, who still believe in it, most likely also believe in the list of fantasies we had fed our children from day one such as Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy. When 2% of a Nation is seized with greed they becomes sociopathic (without a conscience) and Aristotle’s quote: “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts”, for the 2%, the whole is their assets and profits, and that's greater than the sum of its parts, we-the-people… (power and $$$ being the only bottom-line). But they still need the hoi polloi to feed their capital, they cannot maintain their political strength without them, so they continue to propagandize the delusion that the proletariat can also become rich and live the American Dream, no matter how low on the income scale they may be. We the huddled masses of this country are the majority but that holds no water because we behave as though we, more than life itself, need the 2%, they take care of us, they are our protectors our guardians and they will help make us rich. It’s an old story that’s been told and retold before, think, Pinocchio who was lured into slavery by promises of prosperity … “Pinocchio faces another challenge when he is lured to Pleasure Island by the promise of games, toys, and all the candy he can eat. As a result of his unconscionable actions, he turns into a donkey.” (LINK) That says it all… thinkingblue
PS: If only those who lure us into compliance had noses that would grow longer with each lie, we then would know where the sociopaths were hiding… but at present, we only have our common-sense to rely on. USE IT!

Kochs and Other Conservatives Split Over Strategy on Health Law

By ERIC LIPTON and NICHOLAS CONFESSORE
Published: October 10, 2013

WASHINGTON — Under attack for the government shutdown, some of the most vocal elements of the conservative wing of the Republican Party are publicly splintering, a sign of growing concerns among even hard-core conservatives that the defeat-health-care-at-any-cost strategy may have backfired.

The dispute centers on the best way to oppose President Obama’s health care plan: to immediately try to bring it down by blocking any federal budget deal that includes funding for it, or to gradually build public opposition until Congress and the White House are controlled by elected officials willing to repeal the law.

On Thursday, the divisions were on display as conservative groups like the Heritage Action for America said they would not fight a short-term increase in the debt ceiling while Americans for Prosperity insisted just a few days ago that any increase be tied to cuts in social programs.

Their actions followed an unusual public statement on Wednesday by the Koch Companies, the conglomerate controlled by the billionaire conservative brothers Charles and David Koch, who sent a letter to the Senate stating that they did not support the effort led by Heritage Action to force the partial closing of federal government as a way to eliminate funding for the health care program.

“We want to set the record straight and correct this misinformation,” the letter said.

The conflicting opinions, which had been kept mostly private for months as the budget conflict in Washington escalated, reflect a growing fear that the Republicans will be blamed for fallout from the government shutdown without anything to show for it.

Anti-Intellectualism and the Republicans

When I watched the NBC Nightly News segment on day one (October 1st 2013) of the Government Shutdown (video below) I felt as though I had been transported to a La-La Land, hallucinatory state of mind, “is this truly happening, has the Shutdown become a reality, did 3 long years of debate between Democrats and the Republican Tea Party on the Affordable Health Care act plummet to sort of a victory for the Tea Party Republicans who were dancing in the streets with joy, singing the praises of their accomplishment?”  Yes, it happened and yes the Tea Party is overcome with delight, but why. Never could figure out the WHY in all this… that is until today while I was still searching the Internet for answers I came across a Wikipedia informational piece on the subject of Anti-intellectualism. Voila, that’s it, when the Republicans became the PARTY OF NO, their main objective: Dumbing Down (the deliberate diminishment of an intellectual level) became their only goal, no more trying to get work done while making sure the hoi polloi is slow to understand and dim-witted, we’re out for blood and stamping out ‘thinking’ and ‘questioning’ by those who can give us power, should be our only drive.  The most frightening part of all this is… they seem to be succeeding. thinkingblue

What the Shutdown Really Means

Here's what the shutdown is REALLY all about! Let's all thank Ted Cruz and the Teapublican Party for putting their political careers way ahead of what's good for America and its people. thinkingblue
A Birthday Party that cannot be celebrated due to a Teapublican Shutdown of Government. thinkingblue
Every time we see how the shutdown will affect us, let's all give a rousing cheer of appreciation to Ted Cruz and the Teapublicans. thinkingblue
WHY?

Tea Party Says Government Must ShutDown!

AND THE WINNER IS: NOBODY!
The Tea Party Congress has failed us again just to get its own way.
OR
5th Column has struck again! :-(
fifth column is a group of people who undermine a larger group, such as a nationor a besieged city, from within. The activities of a fifth column can be overt or clandestine. Forces gathered in secret can mobilize when coordination with an external attack requires and extend even to uniformed military operations as part of a coordinated campaign. They can be clandestine, involving acts of sabotage, disinformation campaigns, or espionage executed within defense lines by secret sympathizers with an external force. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fifth_column

If the creditor nations were to sell just a small proportion of their American assets, they could send Wall Street into a tailspin, with unpleasant implications for the net worth of many Republicans.

They are unlikely to push things that far but even if they were merely to slow the pace of their buying, bond yields would rocket and stocks could fall 15 percent in the space of a couple of weeks. A key thing here is that American asset valuations are at historic highs — the Standard & Poor’s 500 is on a P/E of 19 and long-term bond yields are still near their lowest in decades.

It is sometimes suggested that by triggering a sell-off, creditor nations would be cutting their own throats. Actually this is a characteristically myopic Western way of looking at things – a view that completely misunderstands how things have changed now that East Asians call the tune. The creditor nations are long-term holders who are largely indifferent to short-term fluctuations.

As a general rule, East Asians hate drawing attention to themselves. But they are quite effective behind the scenes. One of the most important ways they wield influence is through major Wall Street investment banks, which by no coincidence are openly hostile to the Tea Party’s latest gambit. Wall Street banks spend large amounts on political contributions, typically backing both Republicans and Democrats. Their money gives them plenty of face time to advise American elected representatives on “good economics,” a term that more and more these days amounts to economics that serves East Asia’s interests. Meanwhile American investors generally are short-term thinkers who rarely show much intestinal fortitude in riding out market downturns.

It remains to be seen how markets will react tomorrow but the betting is that, in the absence of a climbdown by Republicans, we will see a significant correction. And if Tea Party stalwarts continue to stick by their guns in the weeks ahead, we could see damage particularly in techs and other high P/E stocks. For the record, major tech stocks that seem most richly valued on a forward P/E basis include CRM, LNKD, CCI, FB, and ADBE. Although future prospects may justify such valuations, the short-term action could be quite bumpy — certainly bumpy enough to frighten a lot of the Republican rank and file.
