Once Upon A Time, Not So Long Ago, The USA Was A Republic
But Was Dismantled (one service at a time) And Became An Oligarchy

Going Anti-Postal

What kind of nation won’t fund a Post Office?
http://thehumanist.org/march-april-2012/going-anti-postal/

{{{EXCERPT}}}The Postal Service is not a mere delivery service, an outdated, inefficient alternative to FedEx or UPS. It’s a public service that every nation on earth, except for Somalia, maintains. In fact the United States joins Somalia as one of the only nations that doesn’t fund a postal system. We used to fund it, from the birth of our nation until Ronald Reagan’s presidency. It’s one of the only public services specifically addressed in the U.S. Constitution—right in Article One. Its genesis dates back to the Second Continental Congress, which appointed Benjamin Franklin as our first postmaster general.

The original purpose of the Postal Service was not to deliver Christmas gifts or iPads but to deliver democracy. It was the conduit for political discussion and debate, tying a geographically dispersed population into a single, somewhat informed electorate. That’s why magazines and newspapers historically enjoyed a low, government-subsidized rate. The Founding Fathers realized that a large nation must communicate through media, and that privately funded media would skew the national debate toward the interests of the rich. Hence, they established the Postal Service and gave it a mandate to subsidize independent media with deeply discounted media mail rates. That’s why its formation was enshrined in the U.S. Constitution—for the same reason the Constitution guarantees freedom of speech and names journalism as the only profession that it specifically safeguards. A free press, including a means for disseminating that press, are paramount necessities for a democracy to function.

Notice how it reads "WE USE TO FUND IT, FROM THE BIRTH OF OUR NATION UNTIL RONALD REAGAN... That says it all, our Republic has been going down, down, down since the Ronald Reagan administration decided that we (our nation) needs to become THE UNITED CORPORATIONS OF AMERICA where all services, from education to prisons to health insurance (bye bye Medicare/caid) and now the Postal Service needs to be privatized (by the 1% few). The Republican party's vision to drown our republic form of government in a bathtub is almost a reality. I hope it's not too late to turn it around... But I can't help feeling like it is... :-( thinkingblue

THE TRUTH: Democracy VS Republic

Is the United States a democracy?
http://thisnation.com/question/011.html

The Pledge of Allegiance includes the phrase: "and to the republic for which it stands." Is the United States of America a republic? I always thought it was a democracy? What's the difference between the two?

The United States is, indeed, a republic, not a democracy. Accurately defined, a democracy is a form of government in which the people decide policy matters directly--through town hall meetings or by voting on ballot initiatives and referendums. A republic, on the other hand, is a system in which the people choose representatives who, in turn, make policy decisions on their behalf. The Framers of the Constitution were altogether fearful of pure democracy. Everything they read and studied taught them that pure democracies "have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths" (Federalist No. 10).

By popular usage, however, the word "democracy" come to mean a form of government in which the government derives its power from the people and is accountable to them for the use of that power. In this sense the United States might accurately be called a democracy. However, there are examples of "pure democracy" at work in the United States today that would probably trouble the Framers of the Constitution if they were still alive to see them. Many states allow for policy questions to be decided directly by the people by voting on ballot initiatives or referendums. (Initiatives originate with, or are initiated by, the people while referendums originate with, or are referred to the people by, a state's legislative body.) That the Constitution does not provide for national ballot initiatives or referendums is indicative of the Framers' opposition to such mechanisms. They were not confident that the people had the time, wisdom or level-headedness to make complex decisions, such as those that are often presented on ballots on election day.

Writing of the merits of a republican or representative form of government, James Madison observed that one of the most important differences between a democracy and a republic is "the delegation of the government [in a republic] to a small number of citizens elected by the rest." The primary effect of such a scheme, Madison continued, was to:

. . . refine and enlarge the public views by passing them through the medium of a chosen body of citizens whose wisdom may best discern the true interest of their country and whose patriotism and love of justice will be least likely to sacrifice it to temporary or partial considerations. Under such a regulation it may well happen that the public voice, pronounced by the representatives of the people, will be more consonant to the public good than if pronounced by the people themselves, convened for the same purpose (Federalist No. 10).

Later, Madison elaborated on the importance of "refining and enlarging the public views" through a scheme of representation:

There are particular moments in public affairs when the people, stimulated by some irregular passion, or some illicit advantage, or misled by the artful misrepresentations of interested men, may call for measures which they themselves will afterwards be most ready to lament and condemn. In these critical moments, how salutary will be the interference of some temperate and respectable body of citizens, in order to check the misguided career and to suspend the blow meditated by the people against themselves, until reason, justice and truth can regain their authority over the public mind(Federalist No. 63).

In the strictest sense of the word, the system of government established by the Constitution was never intended to be a "democracy." This is evident not only in the wording of the Pledge of Allegiance but in the Constitution itself which declares that "The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government" (Article IV, Section 4). Moreover, the scheme of representation and the various mechanisms for selecting representatives established by the Constitution were clearly intended to produce a republic, not a democracy.

To the extent that the United States of America has moved away from its republican roots and become more "democratic," it has strayed from the intentions of the Constitution's authors. Whether or not the trend toward more direct democracy would be smiled upon by the Framers depends on the answer to another question. Are the American people today sufficiently better informed and otherwise equipped to be wise and prudent democratic citizens than were American citizens in the late 1700s? By all accounts, the answer to this second question is an emphatic "no."

Thinking Outside The GOP "Good Book"

When I read the below article I realized that we are being driven back into the 20th century, to the 1950's to be exact. I was a young child back then and was growing up in a world of double standards, A MAN'S WORLD to be exact. Any sexual activity was A-OK for the boys but for the girls, all they would get is a slew of nasty labels attached to them for their entire lifetime. I also remember feeling THIS ISN'T FAIR, even though I was only ten.

In our neighborhood one day was a funeral for a girl who died from a back-alley abortion, her coffin was outside of the church on the sidewalk, a priest stood in the doorway of the church yelling at the girl's parents, "SHE CANNOT COME INTO THIS CHURCH BECAUSE SHE HAD COMMITTED A MORTAL SIN."

I cried. thinkingblue

States Where Right-Wingers Are Promoting Shocking Measures to Keep Women Barefoot and Pregnant
The birth control skirmish is not the only regressive, anti-woman, anti-science battle being waged in this country.
February 18, 2012 |

It's been an exhausting few weeks for reproductive rights supporters. Most recently, we've been treated to a new round of a battle over birth control, as the debate over whether employees at religiously affiliated institutions should be required to receive insurance that covers birth control without a co-payment -- a right employees of all other U.S. companies will have under the Obama administration's new healthcare law -- rages on in Washington.

Many of us can't believe we're having a conversation, let alone a full-blown debate, about this issue in the year 2012, but here we are, watching women get shut out of this week's hearing on the subject, listening to men wax poetic about the "good old days" when low-cost birth control meant holding an aspirin between one's knees and enduring childish rants from a cabal of overly powerful Catholic bishops who, in the astute words of Jon Stewart, have "confused the war on...religion with not always getting everything [they] want."

But attention-grabbing as the anti-birth control crusade may be, it is not the only regressive, anti-woman, anti-science battle being waged in this country. In fact, right-wing politicians are attempting to roll back reproductive rights across the nation. One year ago, we reported on a number of state-level reproductive rights battles. Today we check in with many of those states (plus some new ones), only to find that the war on women has not let up at all and abortion bans being introduced to legislatures are getting more scary, more intrusive, more punitive and in some cases, gaining more traction.

This brutal combined assault on family planning and abortion rights, if it continues to be successful, will hit disadvantaged women the hardest, and result in an environment of compulsory pregnancy for many of the nation's women.

Now, here it is 2012 and this same dark-age mentality has reared its ugly head again.

What is happening to our country since the advent of the evangelical rise to power via the Tea Party, is really SICK. I know people have been raised from day one to believe, the writings from over 2000 to 5000 years ago, found in caves, dubbing human beings' as divine, are the whole truth and nothing but the truth. But some people escaped such harsh indoctrination and can comprehend that humans are not divine and in fact, are like all the other animals who share this planet. When you can think outside the GOP "GOOD BOOK" written by men, you can understand that all this War on Women comes from some sort of twisted belief script that's totally rooted in supernatural mythology. (To believe that a human female body is nothing but an incubator or hatchery is extremely disturbing, to say the least.)

To conclude that a fertilized egg, with no awareness, is a person, is akin to believing that a human cell is also a person since there is a possibility that it can be cloned.

I hope intellectual collectiveness will eventually block these radioactive rays of insanity conjured up by frighten little children, from their deepest darkest hallucinations, and brought to the surface in the shape of BATSHIT CRAZY laws, that they hurl in the faces of those who THINK.

We cannot and will not stand for it! thinkingblue

GOP TEA PARTY's New Target (demonizing) The Girl Scouts of America.

I guess it's the GIRL in "Girl Scouts" that is behind this new GOP attack! thinkingblue

FB member, posts article below and writes on facebook: Just when you thought that Indiana Republicans could not move further to the right, they out did themselves. Apparently the Girl Scouts are now a "radicalized" organization.

Republican calls Girl Scouts 'radicalized'
A lawmaker has sent a letter to fellow Republican members of the Indiana House saying he would not support a resolution celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts because he believes it is a "radicalized organization" that supports abortion and promotes homosexuality.

In a letter obtained by The Journal-Gazette of Fort Wayne on Monday, Rep. Bob Morris of Fort Wayne said he did some research on the Internet and found allegations that the Girl Scouts are a tactical arm of Planned Parenthood, allow transgender females to join and encourage sex.

"After talking to some well-informed constituents, I did a small amount of web-based research, and what I found is disturbing," Morris wrote in his letter, which also accused the group of promoting "homosexual lifestyles."

Morris sent the letter to House Republicans on Saturday. MORE HERE

Tea Party supporter's will agree with any right-wing nut ... case in point:

A GOP/TP member writes on Facebook:

If one Republican means that the whole state party is farther to the right, than the Democrats must be Genghis Khan and the Thundering Hordes after what was done at the 'Democrat' (GOP code word) National Convention. When the Boy Scouts took the stage they were roundly booed by many delegates.

Typical Right-winger's retort of no explanation just "YA MOMMA WEARS COMBAT BOOTS" rhetoric.

I don’t approve of derision no matter which side it’s coming from…

BUT FACT NUMBER ONE: the Dems booed boy scouts because of the decision by the right-wing majority Supreme Court that ruled the Boy Scouts can ban homosexual leaders… It’s all about tolerance and the GOP/TP does not know the meaning of that word! To hateful bigots like Morris, et al, anyone who doesn’t agree with your ONE-SIDED, DISTORTED BIGOTRY is radical. thinkingblue

REASON FOR BOOOOOO...

The Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that the Boy Scouts of America can bar homosexuals from being troop leaders. The justices by a 5-4 vote overturned a New Jersey Supreme Court ruling that the dismissal of a gay Scout leader had been illegal under the state's anti-discrimination law. The Boy Scouts, which also exclude atheists and agnostics as leaders, said it has the right to decide who can join its ranks.

This type of BIGOTRY is so nauseating, no fair-minded human being would ever condone it.

AND:

A lawmaker has sent a letter to fellow Republican members of the Indiana House saying he would not support a resolution celebrating the 100th ANNIVERSARY of the Girl Scouts because he believes it is a "radicalized organization" that supports abortion and promotes homosexuality.

Agreeing with Rep. Bob Morris “R” is agreeing that injustice should thrive.

America's POOR 101

POOR AMERICA

With one and a half million (1.5 million) American children now homeless, reporter Hilary Andersson meets the school pupils who go hungry in the richest country on Earth. From those living in the storm drains under Las Vegas to the tent cities now springing up around the United States, P a n o r a m a finds out how the poor are surviving in America and asks whatever happened to the supposed 'government' and the Real People in charge - those who you 'don't see' pulling on the strings; and their vision and welfare for the country.

Could this be a form of 'Social cleansing' without the need of war or disease inflicted by the orchestrators - simply a controlled bout of poverty? Or is this the forced education that only condition children to know only a certain amount of knowledge that can only ever see them progress in working environments such as confined offices within the 'Human Zoo' qualities within the desperately overcrowded cities.

Why are our children not educated properly - to be able to survive communally with real craft and building skills? Is the social mobility (as in other 'rich countries' such as the UK) only fairing the rich; the wealthy and the 'clever elite'; the white collar criminal, as per usual?

Broadcast Date: 13th February 2012

Isn't it strange that we need the BBC to tell us that America does not give a damn about the poor (mostly working poor) of our country (or the middle class for that matter), even though it is apparent and all around for us to watch how quickly our country is becoming a Plutocracy. The Republicans, who are blatantly leading the way, with a Mitt Romney, so out of touch with we-the-people, he remarks…He’s not concerned about the very poor… That says it all, of course they (GOP) are not concerned about the poor that is why they try to gut ANYTHING that tries to help the poor and lift them from their poverty shackles.

It does not make sense but I guess as a member of the 99%, spending most of my life physically working hard, trying to make an hourly wage in order to feed family, while fending off any fear that homelessness could possibly become a reality, I along with the other 99%, WOULD find it difficult to make sense of the Republicans' revulsion with poor people. I don’t think the rich could ever lay claim to that affirmation. thinkingblue

Give the wealthy a dose of ‘reality’

It seems that the “reality” shows are all the rage. “Dancing with the Stars” and “Survivor” have captured the attention of an audience that only dreams of becoming more than what they are.

Given that, I have come up with another reality show that may not only serve those with a hunger for distraction but also those who see our social network and the politicians that effect it way out of touch with reality. I call it “Poverty Survival for the Wealthy.”

It would entail taking 10 of those of the 1 percent and putting them into an impoverished situation. It would also mean that their family would also be part of survival without means. Each of the contestants would be placed in poverty in either a rural or urban setting. They would have to survive facing government cuts to health care benefits, food stamps and assisted living. Their children would learn what it is to be in schools that are not about education but about survival. They would actually have to shop for groceries knowing that they are limited to only buying food that is not only inexpensive but relatively unhealthy. Also, they may have to face the fact that the clothes they wear make the Salvation Army the haberdashery of choice.

The only problem I have with this is how to decide the winner. I think that it would be the one who most strongly realizes that those of wealth need to understand that being poor is not a choice but a reflection of a system that only favors the wealthy, a system that is stacked against those who are poor and offers them no escape. I can’t wait to see how the “Donald” survives.

Rational Intelligence Is On Our Side

I am still trying to figure out HOW and WHEN soundness of mind was laid to rest in America. I know a lot of foul incidents that heavily strained America’s sanity, occurred during the 8 long years of the Cheney/Bush’s reign of 9/11 terror that we are still reeling from but I thought with their departure, we-the-people had emerged (from their fiasco of not caring what happened to America as long as it made billionaires, mufti-billionaires), a bit stronger and wiser. NO SUCH LUCK!

In the aftermath of all the chaos caused by the relentless disregard of our nation and its people by the Cheney/Bush mismanagement group, a grassroots movement evolved. They claimed they were angry. They claimed they were distressed. They claimed Government was causing all their pain therefore they should shrink it down to a size so small that it can drown in a bathtub. But all their claims were meaningless, what they really were upset about was the 2008 GOP loss to Barack Obama (a black man) that, they could not tolerate.

When the wealthy corporatist got wind of all this anger and hate they decided to capitalize and benefit from so much unbridled scorn, so the grassroots Tea Party movement was seized and became a tool for the 1% to regain some of the power they lost during the 2008 election. They shelled out millions to corral this populous discontent in order to get their sycophants elected. First they renamed their toadies Tea Party members and the populous grassroots Tea Party joiners were swept off their feet, believing everything they were hearing as truth. Thus, the GOP’s big win of the house and almost the senate plus the many govenitorial races in 2010. Once in, they threw off their sheep’s clothing and donned their wolf outfits again.

Now with this government takeover of the house (and the newly planted state governors by the 1%), along with the Citizens United, Corporations are People, decision by the 5 Supreme Court Corporatist groupies, the 1% were all set to finalize their dreams of a world takeover. They threw everything in the pot which included, all the worn-out social issues that use to work like charms before the collapse of the economy. Religion, Gay Marriage Rights, Women’s Reproductive Rights, Taxes, 9/11 (oops, they couldn’t use that any longer because they milked it to death). You know all those issues that make the indoctrinated very, very mad and eager to vote against their own best interests.

So, I guess with my ranting on, I’ve answered my own question of HOW and WHEN soundness of mind was laid to rest in America… It came to pass, when the 1% so easily (too easily) took over the minds and rationale of those who live in a religious and prejudice world of darkness.

Please watch one of our own, who is the embodiment of Rational Intelligence (with a LARGE dash of wit and humor), Jon Stewart talk about THE INSANITY. thinkingblue

If there's one thing Jon Stewart can't stand, it's public figures making unfair comparisons to Hitler. Unfortunately, during his week off from "The Daily Show" last week, he was presented with yet another Nazi analogy courtesy of Fox News -- this time in reference to President Obama's birth control policy.

The President's healthcare plan requiring contraception to be included in insurance coverage has started a "firestorm" among Christians (or, as Stewart pointed out, "just the old dudes who run it") MORE HERE

Theater Of The Absurd - Absurdism

Colombian priests hired hitmen to kill themselves

BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) — Rev. Rafael Reatiga asked his parishioners to pray for him and gave the choirmaster a list of songs for his funeral shortly before he was found shot to death together with another Roman Catholic priest, a Colombian prosecutor said Tuesday.
Authorities initially suspected robbery when Reatiga's body was found along with that of Rev. Richard Piffano, 37, in a car in southern Bogota on Jan. 27, 2011.
But on Tuesday prosecutor Ana Patricia Larrota said investigators had determined that it was suicide by hitmen in the year-old case: the two priests hired gunmen to kill them after Reatiga discovered he had AIDS.
The priests gave members of a criminal gang the equivalent of $8,500, said the chief investigator of the prosecutor's office, Maritza Gonzalez, as two of the four alleged assassins appeared before a judge for processing.
She said the two priests had originally planned to throw themselves off a cliff into a canyon north of Bogota but apparently lacked the nerve.
In addition to AIDS, Reatiga had syphilis and witness testimony indicated he was a regular visitor to places frequented by gays in central Bogota, Larrota told the judge who processed the two alleged assassins on Tuesday.
Gildardo Alberto Penate and Isidro Castiblanco were charged with aggravated homicide, said Larrota. Each faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted. MORE HERE http://news.yahoo.com/colombian-priests-hired-hitmen-kill-themselves-043441579.html

There are oh, so many things wrong (albeit quite sad) with this story which exposes the hypocrisy of religion. Two priests hire hitmen to murder themselves (religious dogma of sins - thou shalt not murder, thou shalt not commit suicide) because they had sexually transmitted diseases caused by their human sexual behavior (thou shalt not commit fornication)... So very sad for the priests (and their flocks) to be burden with so much "dogmatic" (opinionated) sin, that they felt the need to end their lives and involve others in the process. (The hiring of other human beings to kill...). If only they were free from the rigid instruction, religions extol and realize that we are all by nature, programmed to indulge in so called “sins of the flesh” and that if one “falls from grace” there can be rational pardon. It is a doleful account that is repeated time and time again and contributes to the extreme despair in life. This should be yet another reason to take a good look at the misery, harsh religious indoctrination causes in a very short mortal existence.

Funny or not so funny moral of this story is… the guilt that religions force upon their worshipers never seems to stop the extreme behavior of psychopaths in society (including pedophiles within their own clergy) they only seem to subjugate those with conscience who might do good for humankind if it wasn’t for their contrived guilt. thinkingblue

A philosophical moment:

Absurdism - A view, which is shared by Sartre, is that humanity must live in a world that is and will forever be hostile or indifferent towards them. The universe will never truly care for humanity the way we seem to want it to. The atheist view of this statement is that people create stories, or gods, which in their minds transcend reality to fill this void and attempt to satisfy their need.

Absurdism is a philosophical stance embracing a wide range of perspectives, which implies that the efforts of humanity to find or absolutely define, limit, express or exclude the inherent meanings of anything, including human existence, are absurd because the qualities of communicable information available to the human mind, and relationships within Reality makes any certainty about such impossible. Philosophical schools of absurdism explore the fundamental nature of the Absurd and how individuals, once they become aware of it, can or should react to it and to circumstances they encounter.
---

'The Theatre of the Absurd' is a term coined by the critic Martin Esslin for the work of a number of playwrights, mostly written in the 1950s and 1960s. The term is derived from an essay by the French philosopher Albert Camus. In his 'Myth of Sisyphus', written in 1942, he first defined the human situation as basically meaningless and absurd. The 'absurd' plays by Samuel Beckett, Arthur Adamov, Eugene Ionesco, Jean Genet, Harold Pinter and others all share the view that man is inhabiting a universe with which he is out of key. Its meaning is indecipherable and his place within it is without purpose. He is bewildered, troubled and obscurely threatened.

The origins of the Theatre of the Absurd are rooted in the avant-garde experiments in art of the 1920s and 1930s. At the same time, it was undoubtedly strongly influenced by the traumatic experience of the horrors of the Second World War, which showed the total impermanence of any values, shook the validity of any conventions and highlighted the precariousness of human life and its fundamental meaninglessness and arbitrariness. The trauma of living from 1945 under threat of nuclear annihilation also seems to have been an important factor in the rise of the new theatre.

Instead of attending “prayer breakfasts” in my own honor on what was actually designated on the Web as “Pray for Hitchens Day.” I have spent much of the past year registering myself as an experimental subject for various clinical trials and “protocols,” mainly genome-based and aimed at enlarging human knowledge and at shrinking the area of darkness and terror where cancer holds dominion. My aim here is obviously not quite disinterested, but many of the experiments are at a stage where any result will be too far in the future to be of help to me. In this book I cite Horace Mann’s injunction: “Until you have done something for humanity you should be ashamed to die.” So this is a modest and slight response to his challenge, to be sure, but my own. The irruption of death into my life has enabled me to express a trifle more concretely my contempt for the false consolation of religion, and belief in the centrality of science and reason.

Not all my views have been vindicated, even to me. I see that I write that, “I personally want to ‘do’ death in the active and not the passive, and to be there to look it in the eye and be doing something when it comes for me.” I cannot quite sustain this jauntiness in the light of what I now know. Should the best efforts of my physician friends be unavailing, I possess a fairly clear idea of how Stage Four esophageal cancer harvests its victims. The terminal process doesn’t allow for much in the way of “activity” or even of composed farewells, let alone Stoic or Socratic departures. This is why I am so grateful to have had, already, a lucid interval of some length, and to have filled it with the same elements, of friendship and love, and literature and the dialectic, with which I hope some of this book is also animated. I wasn’t born to do any of the things I set down here, but I was born to die and this code must be my attempt to assimilate the narrative to its conclusion.

“[Mother Teresa] was not a friend of the poor. She was a friend of poverty. She said that suffering was a gift from God. She spent her life opposing the only known cure for poverty, which is the empowerment of women and the emancipation of them from a livestock version of compulsory reproduction.”

GOP, C-PAC Your White Robes And Pointy Hats Are showing.

I don’t know about anyone else but I have no idea what the hell Peter Brimelow is sputtering within his British accented gibberish. I searched youtube for videos on this so-called White Nationalist and found several, which I clicked upon and tried, I really did, to understand what ware, he was trying to sell. Maybe, I’m just plain thick but I felt that what was coming from this human brain via a larynx or voice box was pure Imbecilic Muck.

{{{A former senior editor at Forbes magazine, author and founder and editor of the white nationalist hate website VDARE.com Brimelow blames the 1965 Immigration Act for a host of problems. (The Immigration Act greatly reduced the percentage of immigrants from Europe while allowing for huge increases in Asian and Hispanic immigration.) Until its passage, Brimelow said Friday, the United States had the option of being more like Switzerland – a relatively small population, stable birthrates, homogeneous and highly educated – or Brazil, which he characterized as “diverse” and “chaotic.” He added, “We’re in the process of becoming Brazil with gated communities and so forth.”

Brimelow’s comments came during his keynote address at the first conference of the newly formed Mencken Club. About 60 mostly male, entirely white people attended. While the turnout was modest, it included several luminaries of the academic racist movement, including Jared Taylor, editor of the white nationalist magazine American Renaissance, which features stories about eugenics – the pseudo-science of weeding out human ‘genetic inferiority’ through selective breeding, and carried a column by Taylor after Hurricane Katrina in which he agued that “when blacks are left entirely to their own devices—civilization disappears.” }}}

When I try to listen to his words, real careful like, so that I could formulate something positive within his chosen Ideology; my mind keeps red flagging... bigotry, hatred and white race superiority. This man is not eloquent even though there may be some who can be swayed by his cool dialect and believe that he knows what he's talking about. (But then again, those people would already possess a strong bigoted mind-set and influencing them would be a piece of cake.)

There is a bottom line to being human and that is WE ARE ALL IN THIS THING CALLED EXISTENCE TOGETHER, no human is different than any other human being. We have, all together, gone this far through our evolutionary JOY RIDE, gathering and refining survival mechanisms and instincts on the way. We are so similar that if there were no outer coverings such as skin, hair, eyes, etc. (the outer layers that formed due to climate), we would all look identical.

Thus, when C-pac invites such a vile person to speak at their Circus Of Hate, it only ratifies what we who THINK have always believed about the GOP, that it has become nothing but a costume-less KKK!

Update: Rick Scott's Drug Testing Poor People Law

Rick Scott is an abomination. How he EVER got ANYONE to vote for him is beyond reason. He doesn’t try to hide the fact that he will do ANYTHING to line his own pockets. It is sad that these so-called TEA PARTY governors won elections and then used their power to harm America and its inhabitants. Below are a few facts on this disgusting pile of cowplop pretending to be human. thinkingblue

As Always Jon Stewart Brings this contemptuous law perpetrated by the 1% on the 99% to light.
FLORIDA WELFARE DRUG TESTING LAW - Rick Scott Targetted By The Daily Show
---
A Few Interesting Facts On Rick Scott:

Rick Scott was once the CEO of Columbia/HCA, a massive hospital chain. The federal government fined Columbia/HCA for Medicaid and Medicare fraud. That fine, a jaw-dropping 1.7 billion dollars, is the largest in American history.

But instead of going to jail, Rick Scott became the governor of Florida.

A guy scams the government and now is an elected official of the government. And in the three months since he's been in office he's doing his best to destroy the fourth largest state.

1. He rejected $2.4 billion in stimulus money to build a high-speed rail line from Tampa to Orlando.

2. He wants to slash $4 billion in spending while cutting taxes for millionaires.

3. He tried to use state funds to build golf courses in state parks while cutting education by 10 percent and corporate taxes by 5 percent.

4. He's requiring 600,000 government workers (including police officers, teachers, firefighters, judges, and retirees) to contribute 5 percent to their retirement.

5. He just lopped off $2,300 a year in teacher salary to give massive tax cuts to corporations and the wealthy.

He's also not a fan of black people. He proposed eliminating state support for two HBCUs (Historically black colleges and universities). He's shutting down a state agency that assists minority businesses, and he refuses to appoint an African American to any significant position in his administration.

Where's Kanye West when you need him? Someone needs to go on TV and awkwardly declare: "Rick Scott doesn't care about black people!"

Stephen King, a part-time resident of Florida, attended a rally to protest Scott's state budget cuts. Allow me to describe Rick Scott perfectly, using King's famous books as inspiration:

Rick Scott is a bigger clown than the clown from It. This Firestarter wants to turn Florida into his own personal Creepshow, a Dead Zone where his economic policies will have residents screaming "REDRUM!" Sorry Florida, but it looks like you guys are in for a whole lot of Misery.

http://www.alternet.org/teaparty/150392/the_8_worst_governors_in_america/

----

FLORIDA: Cost of the tests averages about $30. Assuming that 1,000 to 1,500 applicants take the test every month, the state will owe about $28,800-$43,200 monthly in reimbursements to those who test drug-free.

That compares with roughly $32,200-$48,200 the state may save on one month’s worth of rejected applicants.

Net savings to the state: $3,400 to $5,000 annually on one month’s worth of rejected applicants. Over 12 months, the money saved on all rejected applicants would add up to $40,800 to $60,000 for a program that state analysts have predicted will cost $178 million this fiscal year.

THE REAL REASON FOR SCOTT PASSING THIS LAW {{{While the state will save little, if any, money on the drug testing racket, Scott’s family could stand to gain financially. A former health care executive, Scott founded Solantic Corp., a chain of walk-in health care clinics that provides, among other services, drug tests. Scott maintains that he has no involvement in the company, but he does have $62 million worth of the company’s shares contained in a blind trust under his wife’s name. Though there is no conflict under Florida law unless the company deals with the governor’s office directly, the company, and thus Scott’s investment, could benefit from the increased traffic from drug tests.}}}

Rick Scott sold his Solantic stock in April, which appears to eliminate his financial stake in this law. MORE HERE

But how much did he make before (and after) he sold his Solantic Stock?? thinkingblue

What Breast Cancer is, and is not!

This is a very important video by a very brave and empathetic woman. I couldn't watch the entire tape though... I became overwhelmed with grief. Not only for the lady in the film but also for my mother who died 39 years ago, at age 57 from breast cancer. She didn’t have health insurance because she couldn’t work, having lost her husband some 20 years prior to coming down with this horrible health issue, thus obligating her to raise her 6 children alone. She had little to no support from anyone including her family who really didn’t understand what she was going through and had their own struggles with life.

I had two babies at the time and was living with my husband in our first home. Every morning I would awake and my mother would be the first thing on my mind. I thought about her suffering each and every moment while tending to my very young children. It's a good thing they were babies because they would not have understood why their mommy cried all the time. The worst part of all this was the fact that my mom had no health insurance, because of that she was at the mercy of a teaching hospital and I assume other charities were involved. Back in 1973 there was absolutely no dignity in being poor; you were considered a burden upon society, no matter what circumstances put you there. I did not see my mother’s scars but someone else in the family did and they said it was just horrifying and looked like butchery.

After the removal of her breast she underwent a series of experimental treatments, in other words she was a human guinea pig. She lost all her hair and became weaker with each passing day. My mother did not even last a full year after her initial operation and suffered greatly till the end (We were unaware of hospice because back then people viewed death and suffering as a normal part of existence, and it was not uncommon for people to die --and languish in pain-- at home.).

This is one of those memories that you do not conjure up very often. But today, a brave woman named Linda, made me think about one family’s tragedy with breast cancer… MY OWN. Carolyn aka thinkingblue

Meet the Komen Exec Behind the Planned Parenthood Defunding

http://jezebel.com/5881642/meet-the-komen-exec-behind-the-planned-parenthood-defunding

go to zezebel dot com{{EXCERPT}} Susan G. Komen for the Cure is trying its very hardest to prove to its supporters that it didn't decide to stop giving grants to Planned Parenthood because of an internal or external right wing political agenda, which is steaming, obvious bullshit. Now, it turns out that people from inside Komen confirm that the decision was a political one, and the politics of Komen are swinging wildly to the right thanks to the metastasized ideology of Karen Handel, former Mama Grizzly, failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate, and longtime anti-Planned Parenthood crusader.

KAREN HANDEL NEEDS TO GO!

Tell Komen: Fire Karen Handel - sign petition:

A Look Back:

Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation, the world's leading breast-cancer-research advocacy group, to cut its support for Planned Parenthood, which used Komen dollars (about $600,000 annually) to pay for breast-screening exams for poor people.

What is so disgusting about all this...IT WAS NOT KOMEN'S MONEY TO DECIDE ON CUTTING SUPPORT FOR PLANNED PARENTHOOD, it was the contributers to Komen who funded Planned Parenthood. This makes me more than angry... thinkingblue

Beware Of The Republican Knuckle-Draggers

Those who wish to take us back to the beginnings of our evolutionary past.

February is Black History Month, a time when we Americans celebrate the great successes and accomplishments (against all odds) of African Americans. It’s a pity that we had to single out one month for this event; there shouldn’t have been a necessity for it. Other heritages in America have not been so ignored because they have been treated as one group who made this land a better place. But of course our dismal history of slavery and bigotry has made Americans, for too long, discount the triumphs of those who didn’t fit the profile of a “True American” which of course can only be some WHITE GUY. We sure have a past to be ashamed of but as long as there are efforts made to correct our ugly antiquity, we can hold our heads high and feel pride at our excellence.

But unfortunately, there are those who keep trying to take us back to a time full of hatred and intolerance. They wish not to feel prideful for those they deem beneath them. It is truly sad that no matter how far we’ve advanced along our evolutionary path, the knuckle-draggers are waiting in the wings to annul enlightenment and drag us back to ignorance. These are the people; I like to shed light upon because they are a plague waiting to happen. We need diligence, an alertness of mind to recognize and stop their contamination before it can ruin what so many have tried to build using much blood, sweat and tears.

My little town puts out a neighborhood biweekly newspaper that tries to inform and report the many happenings around the community. We would be looking at a garbage dump at the entrance of our town http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NGFbxgDtvk

if it were not for the professional staff of this paper who investigated and exposed those who tried to sneak this abomination under our unsuspecting noses. I would actually say that I love this little paper but there is something that stops me. They have employed a syndicated columnist who writes a weekly article on his chosen subject of hate. In other words he pushes intolerance and animosity. Oh did I mention he also is of African descent, what a sad commentary for Black America month. Please read his misinformed and Sarah Palin babble of an article below and remember, we the ones who THINK must expose these agitators whenever or wherever we notice them; they are in the words of the late great Bill Hicks, A VIRUS WITH SHOES. thinkingblue

Obama's racial politics

http://www.wnd.com/2012/01/obamas-racial-politics/

Walter E. Williams hammers BHO for liberal use of skin-color agitation

There’s been a heap of criticism placed upon President Barack Obama’s domestic policies that have promoted government intrusion and prolonged our fiscal crisis and his foreign policies that have emboldened our enemies. Any criticism of Obama pales in comparison with what might be said about the American people who voted him in to the nation’s highest office.

Obama’s presidency represents the first time in our history that a person could have been elected to that office who had long-standing close associations with people who hate our nation. I’m speaking of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s pastor for 20 years, who preached that blacks should sing not “God Bless America,” but “God damn America.” Then there’s William Ayers, now professor of education at the University of Illinois at Chicago but formerly a member of the Weather Underground, an anti-U.S. group that bombed the Pentagon, U.S. Capitol and other government buildings. Although Ayers was never convicted of any crime, he told a New York Times reporter, in the wake of the September 2001 terrorist attack, “I don’t regret setting bombs. … I feel we didn’t do enough.” Obama has served on a foundation board and appeared on panels with Ayers, and even held campaign events in his home, joined by Ayers’ former-fugitive wife, Bernardine Dohrn. Bill Ayers’ close association with Obama is reflected by his admission that he helped write Obama’s memoirs, “Dreams from My Father.”

{{{FACT CHECK}}} In a Web ad and in repeated attacks from the stump, McCain describes the two as associates, and Palin claims they "pal around" together. But so far as is known, their relationship was never very close.

The GOP says in an Internet ad that the two "ran a radical ‘education’ foundation" in Chicago. But the supposedly "radical" group was supported by a Republican governor and included on its board prominent local civic leaders, including one former Nixon administration official who has given $1,500 to McCain’s campaign this year. Education Week says the group’s work "reflected mainstream thinking" among school reformers. The group was the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, started by a $49 million grant from the Annenberg Foundation, which was established by the publisher Walter Annenberg, a prominent Republican whose widow, Leonore, is a contributor to the McCain campaign.

{{{FACT CHECK}}} President Barack Obama on some of Rev. Jeremiah Wright's comments– “Let me say at the outset that I vehemently disagree and strongly condemn the statements that have been the subject of this controversy. I categorically denounce any statement that disparages our great country or serves to divide us from our allies. I also believe that words that degrade individuals have no place in our public dialogue, whether it's on the campaign stump or in the pulpit. In sum, I reject outright the statements by Rev. Wright that are at issue.

Because these particular statements by Rev. Wright are so contrary to my own life and beliefs, a number of people have legitimately raised questions about the nature of my relationship with Rev. Wright and my membership in the church. Let me therefore provide some context.

As I have written about in my books, I first joined Trinity United Church of Christ nearly twenty years ago. I knew Rev. Wright as someone who served this nation with honor as a United States Marine, as a respected biblical scholar, and as someone who taught or lectured at seminaries across the country, from Union Theological Seminary to the University of Chicago. He also led a diverse congregation that was and still is a pillar of the South Side and the entire city of Chicago. It's a congregation that does not merely preach social justice but acts it out each day, through ministries ranging from housing the homeless to reaching out to those with HIV/AIDS. –“

Many Americans thought that with Obama’s presidency, we were moving to a “post-racial society.” Little can be further from the truth. Victor Davis Hanson, senior fellow at the Hoover Institution, in a National Review (Jan. 18) article titled “Obama’s Racial Politics,” says that Obama’s message about race and his charges of racial bigotry are “usually coded and subtle.” Criticizing Republicans, before a Mexican-American audience, Obama said that he ran for office because “America should be a place where you can always make it if you try – a place where every child, no matter what they look like (or) where they come from, should have a chance to succeed.” If you don’t get it, “no matter what they look like” is code for nonwhite. Hanson says that Obama’s attorney general, Eric Holder, has “found race a convenient refuge from criticism – most recently accusing his congressional auditors of racism, for their grilling him over government sales of firearms to Mexican cartel hitmen.”

{{{THINKINGBLUE FACT CHECK}}} Victor Davis Hanson writes for the totally one sided and disturbed RIGHT-WING NATIONAL REVIEW he has only one desire and that is to bring down Barack Obama. Googling his name brings nothing but his disgusting hateful written rhetoric against Liberals and Democrats (and of course President Obama). He incites and lies, there is not much more to Victor Davis Hanson than that. Watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xkZbWGvpvA

I once did a spoof on The National Review's yearly cruise it says much about this GOP group of nasties: National Review Cruise, A SHIP OF FOOLS! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yf3k3gACcvM TB

Obama’s racial politics are aided and abetted by a dishonest news media. When Republican candidate Texas Gov. Rick Perry referred to “a big black cloud that hangs over America, that debt that is so monstrous,” he was dishonestly accused of racism by MSNBC’s Ed Schultz, who said, “That black cloud Perry is talking about is President Barack Obama.” Schultz omitted the second half of Perry’s quote. Chris Matthews referred to Perry’s vision of federalism as “Bull Connor with a smile.”

Rick Perry… Is an IDIOT need I say more? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxgVBVojdBA TB

The media have help from black congressmen in stirring up racial dissent. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, D-Mo., said white presidents must be “pushed a great deal more” to address black unemployment than would a black president. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, said that argument over the debt ceiling is proof of racial animosity toward Obama. Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calif., said that Republicans are trying to deny blacks the vote. Rep. Andre Carson, D-Ind., said the tea party wishes to lynch blacks and hang them from trees. Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., said Perry’s job creation in Texas is “one stage away from slavery.”

Let me add to the TRUTHS written here by Walter E. Williams who's trying to paint them as racial, watch my video below:

Ignorance Is NOT Bliss! Right-wing Ideology

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOn0Ek2CE08

All of this places a heavy burden on people who care about our nation. We must ensure that the 2012 elections are the most open and honest elections in U.S. history. Should Obama lose, I wouldn’t put it past leftists, progressives, the news media and their race-hustling allies, as well as the president, to fan the fires of hate and dissension by charging that racists somehow stole the election, thereby giving support and excuses for the kind of violence and lawlessness that we’ve witnessed in flash mobs and Occupy Wall Street riots.

Despicable Doublespeak and totally unmitigated and hypocritical BULLSHIT. Walter E. Williams is a charlatan and hasn't an ounce of integrity. View the video below and see who the lawless ones were that committed numerous acts of violence. thinkingblue
